Kabir Singh Review: A dangerously hostile and antagonistic yet an addictive love story!

Shahid Kapoor yet again pulls off another intense and infuriating character in his arsenal; Kabir Singh loosely manages to glorify Arjun Reddy...

A still from Kabir Singh

The anatomy of a love story remains the same, but it is the direction and the script which renders the endless possibilities and generates the parameter of ambiguity. The film Kabir Singh proves to be one of the handpicked love stories which emits the intense and infuriating sparks in your psyche. The psychotic behavior and the issues of anger management exhibited by the character himself will be inception to the dynamics of new love stories.

Kabir Singh has the power to prevail itself on paper, however, the loopholes tend to overshadow the film. The well-crafted drama is quite exuberant as it never fails to lose the energy from the first minute, but the technicalities of the film are bit indigestible and unjustified. The problem lies within presenting the reality on screen. At the first thirty minutes of the film narrates the dialogues in slow-motion but the visuals are running at the normal speed. While you try to treat yourself with the violence on screen, the whole scene more of gets weird.

Kabir Singh

The rage, the hatred, the love and tenderness like that of a child’s heart, on a visual scale Kabir Singh is a well-defined character. Shahid is known for his performance of intense characters. Right from Haider to Udta Punjab, and now Kabir Singh, the actor has a new and crisp character in his arsenal. Apart from his free-spirited off-screen personality, he has managed to pull off the character gracefully.

There’s no denying, some might claim it to be a sexist film, orthodox at its length and this might spark some issues. However, Kiara’s character might seem to be suppressed in the film, but she does play a vital role through the flow of the film. The actress could have done better on the individual scale, but when it comes to her chemistry with Shahid, they make an impressive duo. Apart from her, Soham Majumdar who performs the character Shiva has offered impeccable performance.

Kiara and Shahid

Comparing the Kabir Singh sequences with Arjun Reddy, the film fails to make an impact on the realistic touch. If we analyze the scenes, the remake has turned hostile and antagonistic sequence into a hilarious scene; which does not justify the claims about this film being a shot-to-shot remake.

On the contrary, the overall conclusion would be Kabir Singh is a one time watch as it really falls apart on the dialogues. It's embarrassing the writers managed to draft a one of a kind love story, but fail to represent the reality in the sequences. With the Bollywood touch persistent throughout the film, it's better to watch Arjun Reddy rather than Shahid’s drama of psychotic violence.
