In an unanticipated turn of events, a massive set in Karjat that has been home to the shoots of some of the most iconic films like Jodhaaa Akbar is now turned into ashes.
As per reports in Mumbai Mirror, the set erected in 2008 at the famous ND Studio in Karjat had a massive fire outbreak on Friday afternoon, resulting in a major portion of the sets being destroyed. Owned by Indian art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai, it is one of the tourist attractions for years now, as the makers did not dismantle the sets even after the film shoot wrapped up.
The sets caught fire at noon, followed by the firefighters reaching the location as soon as they were informed about the mishap; fortunately, no casualty has been reported. The fire was brought under control almost after an hour and a half and now the cooling operation is being conducted. However, so far no exact reason behind the fire has been given out by the authorities. But it is suspected that the fire broke due to a short circuit in the electrical unit.
Investigation for the same has been underway.
Apart from Jodhaa Akbar, Bigg films like Kick, Bajirao Mastani and even Bigg Boss has been shot here in the past.
