I’ve never played a character like this before; glad to work with Balaji: Ishita Ganguly on Yeh Hai Chahatein

India Forums broke the news about actress Ishita Ganguly being short-listed to be a part of Star Plus show 'Yeh Hai Chahatein'. And yet again, our news turned out to be true! Ishita has started the shoot for the show. Ganguly is set to play the character of Samrat's ex-lover Mansi. 

Just as Samrat and Nayan get married, Mansi will enter with Prem, her child. She will claim Samrat is the father of her child. India Forums got in touch with Ishita and asked her about what prompted her to take up the show.

She said, “The character is quite different from what I’ve played until now. Mansi is a very significant role. She is bold, passionate and ambitious; more like today’s girl. She is modern and practical. The character is quite layered and has many shades. An artist is always hungry to play a character that can explore different shades. I’ve been doing many mythological shows and has played significant roles like Draupadi and Kali. I was very happy to have gotten those kind of roles, however, I wanted to get back to normal, social drama and when ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein’ came my way, I grabbed the opportunity. To top it all, it is a Balaji Telefilms’ show and it’s my first project which makes it all the more special”.

We asked her gorgeous actress about the atmosphere on the sets, she quipped, “Honestly, when an actor starts shooting mid-way in a long-running show, a little bit of inhibition is bound to happen. I was also apprehensive about my first day shoot on the sets. However, the cast as well as the crew have been very warm and welcoming. It doesn’t feel like I’m a new entrant in the team”.

When asked about her look in the show, she said, “The entire team has worked very hard to achieve the look that I’ll be donning in the show as Mansi. Since I’ve done many mythological projects, it seems easy to get into any other look. I’m very happy with the results and I hope the viewers will also like it”.
