Is Soumya from 'Shakti- Astitiva Ke Ehsaas Ki' really a TRANSGENDER?

Colors' popular show, 'Shakti... Astitiva Ke Ehsaas Ki' has been in the buzz recently on a great scale. Apart from having stalwart actors like Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik in the lead roles, the show has been cleverly building up to a 'shocking' suspense which is about to be revealed tonight at 8 pm on Colors. Here we are talking about the several aspects leading up to this major revealation.

Courtesy several channels and websites, nearly all the fans have been enlightened with the suspense already that the character of Soumya is indeed a transgender. While, it is impossible to believe it, we still feel that there will be a lot of A's and B's to it; which means a massive realisation of being a transgender can't just be justified that easy. And who knows, whether she would really be a transgender or an intersex (hermaphrodite).
Several debates have already taken place about how logically preposterous it is that a girl who has apparently grown up to be a woman; was never aware about her own sex? Well, the best justification to that is cleared by the makers in the show.


The biggest debate remains about how can a beautiful actress like Rubina Dilaik be shown a transgender? That's quite a challenge, isn't it? Being aware of Rubina's acting prowess, we can be rest assured about her pulling off the role with ease. She is already wowing everyone by her portrayal of an introvert, shy and sceptical Soumya. And now, she will be showcasing different shades of Soumya which would be ashock, betrayal and gradually turn into sorrow and even agony.

Being an intersex rather than a transgender makes a lot more sense on the logical basissince a transgender also has several organs that can be visually different than others in the first look itself. For example, a transgender can have a masculine face with room for beard too. However, this grown-up Soumya obviously doesn't possess such a condition. The only exception can be the belonging to one of the few transgenders, who are too beautiful tobe appearing as one. There are several examples like Anderja Pejic, Carmen Carerra among others.

The post-revelation track mentions how Soumya will be attempting suicide after getting to know about the truth. Vivian aka Harmanwould however be unaware of this and would just be saddened and worried about his wife being in the hospital bed.

We applaud the popular and huge actors like Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik for having the sheer guts to take up a show like this where this show was their much-awaited comeback. Being mainstream commercial actors, Vivian and Rubina took the brave decision of opting for it; which is an absolute feat. And this decision is certainly paying off, where last week, the show reached an amazing 2.5 TRP and with the suspense set to reveal tonight, it should be another momentous week for the team.

Having said all this, the exact suspense will be revealed tonight, which may discard several theories and assumptions about the issue.
