Independence Day: Sudhanshu Pandey says that it’s a great feeling to honor the national flag with a salute

August 15, 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of India's Independence. A fight led by our brave hearts for over a century. Their dedication and sacrifice are the only reason we are now called the largest democracy. And in today's day and age, the definition of the word soldier now includes the police force, doctors and medical practitioners. This Independence Day, PM Modi has requested all the countrymen to hoist the national flag in their homes as a part of the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative. People have followed the initiative and have posted pictures of the tricolor flags that they’ve respectfully put at their respective houses.

India Forums got in touch with popular actor Sudhanshu Pandey from Star Plus show ‘Anupamaa’ and asked him about his thoughts on the day. He said, “I’ve studied in an Army school and it was always a great matter of pride to hoist the flag on Independence Day and all of us used to get quite excited for the same. I was supposed to enter the defense, however, fate had different plans and I ended up in the industry. I always wanted to be an Army officer and serve my country. I remember during school days, we friends used to have this competition as to who will hoist the flag. All of us used to be very enthusiastic for the same. And after the flag hoisting, it used to be a great feeling to honor the flag with a salute”.

He also added, “Independence means rebirth of my country. We are living our life happily because of our freedom fighters. We can breathe freely. It is significant for me because it gives me a sense of Pride. I feel very proud when I realize, our India was under British rule for so many years, with the help of the freedom fighters and the leaders we are living our lives freely today. My favorite freedom fighter is Bhagat Singh”.
