The beautiful Payal Sarkaar who debuted with SAB's Love Story is now seen playing the sensitive yet mature young girl in Sony's Waqt Batayega, Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya. Here is the actress giving an insight to her character Rudra in a a candid chat with Telly Buzz reporter, Binita Ramchandani.
Tell us something about the role you play in Waqt batayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya.
I play Rudra, who is a 20-year old young girl. She is very sensitive but at the same time is very responsible, mature and positive. Her father dotes on her but she does not receive any love and affection from her mother. The reason behind this is plausibly that the mother believes her to be her husband’s illegitimate child, since she is adopted. It hurts her to be rejected by her mother but in spite of all the pain, she always has a smile on her face. She does not have malice against anybody even if they are unkind to her for instance, her aunt and her brothers. Waqt Batayega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya is an apt title for the show. The serial shows that even if blood relatives are valuable, human relations also matter a lot.
you relate to Rudra’s character in any way?
Not really. I am a very spontaneous person, and I usually don’t think a lot before making any decisions. I have never pre-planned anything in life and have usually accepted what comes my way. I do not relate a lot to Rudra. Although Rudra is a positive character, she faces a tough time with her mother and touch wood I have never gone through such a situation in my life.
How did you get the offer for this role?
After Love story wrapped up, Roopa aunty, who played my mother in the same show, had passed my number to Raja Acharya , who works for Creative Eye. The production house and the channel liked me immediately, since they were looking for a Bengali face to play the role of Rudra. Hence I was lucky enough to get the role.
How has it been working on the sets of Waqt Batega Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya?
It’s really been a wonderful experience working with everyone. Our bonding is so good that Protima Shubhangi and I share the same make-up room. We share our thoughts, gossip and have loads of fun.
role that you wish to play?
I wish if I could play Kajol’s character in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. If I do get a good offer in Bollywood, I would not mind doing movies either.
