I was prepared to receive hatred post the changes in Dimpy’s character: Nishi Saxena of ‘Anupamaa’

Star Plus show ‘Anupamaa’ is getting quite interesting with each passing episode. The current track of the show revolves around Anupamaa starting her brand new dance academy while at Shah house, everyone goes against Dimpy and Samar’s relationship.

The recent track witnessed a sudden change in the character of Dimpy. Dimpy took offence as Anupamaa and Toshu interfered in the matters of the dance academy as she felt that she had put in hard work in their absence. She also stated that the name of the dance academy should be changed as it is bringing bad publicity to the academy. 

India Forums got in touch with Nishi Saxena, who plays the character of Dimpy in the show and asked her about her reaction when she learned about the sudden change in the character graph. Nishi said, “Honestly, I was quite excited to read the script. I think Dimpy has reasons for what she’s saying, and she hasn’t really turned entirely negative. Having said that, I believe negative shades add spice in TV shows. Dimpy is not against Anupamaa. Sometimes, in real life also, out of frustration, we say things that we don’t mean, and that’s what’s happening with Dimpy.”

Talking about feedback from fans, Nishi added, “Frankly, I have received a lot of hate messages and hate comments. People have suddenly started to hate Dimpy, and negativity is there, but I feel if people are reacting to the twist, it means that it’s working.”

When asked how she’s dealing with the negativity, she added, “I’m not reading hate comments. I’ve not opened my Twitter account. Initially, there were messages stating that Dimpy shouldn’t be so mean and should remember how Anupamaa helped her in her lowest. I feel audiences should understand that it is not the actor who’s willingly doing stuff but that it is a work of fiction. The script is written in a certain way, and we’re expected only to perform.”
