'I live my characters to the T' - Gauri Tonk
Gauri Tonk refused to wear a saree on the sets of Jhoome Jiya Re. The Telly Buzz team caught up with Mrinal Tripathi, the creative head, and Gauri Tonk to find out more...

But when we spoke to the creative head Mrinal Tripathi, she had a completely different take on it. Mrinal says, “Gauri
did not refuse to wear the saree, neither did she insist on wearing
only western outfits. Actually there was a problem with the costume due
to which she was a bit reluctant to wear it. But I explained to her and
convinced her to wear it .There was no delay in the shooting schedule
either.”
Gauri on the other hand says, “No,
I did not refuse to wear a saree as Gauri Tonk. In fact I personally
love to wear sarees and carry them off very well. The reason I refused
to wear the saree was because of the character I play in Jhoome Jiya
Re. I play the role of the principal of a dance academy and teach
contemporary dancing. She is very strict and a level headed person.”
Further she adds, "I am very particular about the characters I play. I choose my attire to suit the role. For the sequence that was to be shot, I had to perform contemporary western dances and I could not be expected to do so in saree. Yet in the end I agreed and even danced the salsa wearing the saree. I did not throw any tantrums on the sets.”
So while we set the record straight on that rumor,
we were unable to get to the bottom of the story as Mrinal and Gauri
had to give different opinions for the said issue. But as they say all’s well that end well!!!!
