I am getting to play an edgy character - Mrinal Dutt

Actor Mrinal Dutt is currently seen as a detective Raffe Roy Choudhary in Star Plus' show Private Investigator. Though Mrinal has acted in many episodic like Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and MTV Webbed before, this detective series is Mrinal's first show as a lead.

As you playing the character of a detective in the show PI (Private Investigator), how did you prepare yourself for this character?

I prepared myself for the role by reading books based on detective. I watched detective films to get into the skin of the character. But till date we have only watched movies on detectives but no film has been made whereas this show projects that how a person becomes a detective. So I think P.I is a show where audience will see that how a boy becomes a detective.

Basically the guy is still a criminology student and is a private investigator and so he is finding difficult as he is not a professional detective, he determined to become a detective. As you have seen that detectives are usually above 30, but this guy is only 21 and in the coming years he will become a detective.

So in this show they have shown the journey of how Raffe Roy Choudhary becomes a detective.

Have you ever tried to become a detective in a real life?

Not really because I don't have that much patience like Raffe. I am not that curious to find out about things. Well, its nothing like I am not curious about things but I have never tried to do any kind of investigation.

Which is you favorite novel and film based on Detectives?

Well I like many novels and books based on detectives and now there is a new movie coming up starring my favorite actor Joaquin Phoenix who is playing a Private Investigator, so I am really looking forward to watch that film.

Otherwise Sherlock Holmes where Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes was exceptionally  good and the British series of Sherlock Holmes is my favorite. Books to start with, I like the style of Agatha Christie's novels.

How did you react, when the character was narrated to you?

I was very excited and that time only the Sherlock show had started airing. So I watched Sherlock show and then I took up P.I because you won't get to see such characters often. There are hardly shows  like this which are made, so as an actor I am was really looking forward to play this role as this is a very edgy character. Even in future I would like to play such different characters.

Is there any similarity between Raffe and Mrinal?

There is very less similarity between Raffe and Mrinal but there are two things with which I can relate myself with my reel character. Those two things are focus and dedication because in real life also like Raffe does, I too want to do it any how.
