Plot

The series narrates the story of two middle-aged single parents. Shiva (Shweta Tiwari) is a divorcee and struggling to be the best mother to her teenage daughter, Jahan, who is disturbed with her parents' separation and can't decide who she should be with. Yudi (Akshay Oberoi) is widowed and doesn't really care for his children until they come to reside at his place. However, things take an unexpected turn when Shiva and Yudi come across each other.

What we liked

Hum Tum And Them is a refreshing tale high on both fun and emotions. We really liked how the series balances both the elements. The series deals with a variety of issues related to separation, parenting and finding love again.

Talking about performances, it was a sure treat to watch Shweta Tiwari in a never seen before character. She does a fabulous job as a 40-year-old single mother, who loves her daughter and at the same time wishes to give herself a second chance in terms of love and sex. Among the kids, Bhavin Bhanushali shined throughout the series. He gave an intense performance as a responsible brother and a disturbed son. Trupti Khamkar's character was another highlight in the series, she played a staunch feminist but managed to keep it light with her humourous and sarcastic punches.

Melodious songs and beautiful background scores have become a symbol of all Ekta Kapoor series. We are totally in love with Thehar Ja and Kuchh Iss Tarha.

What we didn’t like

Akshay Oberoi’s character - a careless dad, who want to shed the responsibility of his three children was quite unconvincing. He obviously looked young and the salt & pepper look seemed unnatural. Besides, the transition from a dramatic scene to comical was pretty quick, which was a bit hard to digest - at one moment the protagonist is crying for her child and the other moment, she forgets everything and starts making out.

Verdict:

Watch it if you are fan of romance dramas.
