Gulshan Grover SLAPPED First Copy's Saanand Verma without informing, latter says, 'Felt like SLITTING his..'

Actor Saanand Verma, widely recognised for his quirky portrayal of Saxena Ji in Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, has opened up about a disturbing incident that took place on the set of the web series First Copy, which also features Munawar Faruqui. Verma revealed that veteran actor Gulshan Grover struck him with full force during a scene, insisting that the blow was delivered deliberately rather than as part of a performance. Although the moment left him furious, Saanand said he chose not to confront anyone at the time, explaining that he avoids engaging in negativity. He also described Grover as someone who is overly focused on himself.

While speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Saanand recalled the moment in detail, stating, "Gulshan Grover actually slapped me tightly in First Copy, for real. From the inside, I felt like slitting that man’s throat, but I didn’t say anything. I haven’t said anything till date, I’m revealing this for the first time here. He did it intentionally, that wasn’t acting."

According to Saanand, the troubling part was that Gulshan did not warn him before delivering the real slap. He explained that actors usually inform each other before such moments so they can brace themselves or establish consent. Since that courtesy was not extended, the impact caught him off guard and left him feeling disrespected. He admitted that an impulse to retaliate flashed through his mind, even imagining hitting Grover with a chair, but he controlled his emotions and maintained his composure on set.

Reflecting on his career, Saanand shared that he has been slapped countless times for various roles and has built a reputation for performing such scenes convincingly. Even on Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain, he said he has faced numerous slaps, yet each was executed professionally and with prior agreement among the actors.

He contrasted this with experiences involving other stars, mentioning that senior actor Anil Kapoor always apologises after scenes requiring physical contact. Saanand concluded by remarking, "He is a self obsessed man. He is tied to an image of being a bad man. He does all this to maintain that image."
