Zoya Akhtar is one of the biggest and best directors we have in Bollywood today, and her widely loved film Gully Boy has become the official entry from India to the Oscar's 2020 which is all the mire proof of the artistry she possesses.
After taking the movie to prestigious film festivals like Sundance, Berlin and recently releasing it in Tokyo, the director has shown the power of her work all across and pinned the nation on the world map.
When asked, Zoya on Gully Boy being the official entry for the Academy Awards 2020- the filmmaker said, "This has been a great year and I am so overwhelmed with the response our work is getting. I am thrilled and very grateful that Gully Boy has been picked as India’s official entry for the Oscars. It's crazy to receive such news days after Lust Stories received a nomination for the Emmys."
The prestigious Academy Awards which receives the best of cinema from across the world will witness Zoya's magic along with some stellar performances from Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Vijay Raaz among others. From celebrities to movie buffs- everyone was all praise for the talented team and congratulated them on social media.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment along with Zoya Akhtar's Tiger Baby, Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar. The film released in February and has been enjoying a victorious run at the box office.
Apart from this, the director has also directed and produced her first web show Made in Heaven, which was loved by the critics and the audience both. Currently, the filmmaker is working on the second season of the show.
