Diwali is the most celebrated and largest gift giving festival in . The tradition of exchanging gifts and shopping enormously is quite prominent as Diwali is associated with prosperity. Earlier people used to exchange homemade sweets, farm produce or decorative prepared at home. This tradition of shopping and exchanging gifts has been harnessed by marketers in recent times.  You will get to see various marketing strategies at its best around Diwali with free gifts, to slashing of prices for every other commodity. Manufacturers launch their products or announce attractive schemes to lure the people during Diwali. The most popular gift items of recent times are electronic gadgets, artifacts, jewellery, wrist watches, chocolates etc.

Gifts that you have planned to give away this Diwali: That's basically my wife's department. But we have been busy selecting gifts for past few days. We have various varieties of sweets planned as of now. Are you  a Compulsive or a Smart Buyer: Right now, I am a forced buyer with the Sensex dropping very badly. The whole scenario in itself is very bad. But the show must go on and we need to celebrate Diwali. So here I go.

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: Nothing like that I can recollect.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts : Well, that depends on the individual's personal taste. But I would say, go by your budget and have a safe Diwali.

Gifts that you have planned to give away this Diwali: I'm planning to give chocolates to my dear ones. I have some friends who are wine lovers, so wine bottles for them will be a good gift.

Are you a Compulsive or a Smart Buyer: I'm very much a compulsive buyer and have been shopping since two days for Diwali.

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: The gift that I receive every year from my parents is very memorable to me. They know I love to buy clothes and every year they gift me with some beautiful designs.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts : Try something new and  experiment wisely with various stuffs,  like I'm planning to do, gifting wine and chocolates.

Gifts that you have planned to give away this Diwali: Sweets or something that can be useful in day to day life like sari's or jewellery.

Are you  a Compulsive  or a Smart Buyer: I'm a smart buyer when it comes to gold as it's an investment that needs you to think smartly. Other wise I'm a compulsive buyer.

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: Last Diwali my hubby gifted me a platinum solitaire diamond ring which is the most memorable gift for me.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts : Gifts should be the one which people can use. They should cherish your gift and the memory too.

Gifts that you have planned to give away this Diwali: I gifted mom a gold ring.

Are you  a Compulsive or a Smart Buyer: Both, as I see to it that whatever I pick up, I should use them to full extent.

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: I remember when I was in college, my dad gifted me a fancy watch which is the most memorable gift for me.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts : Buy something that can be put in use. Its need not necessarily be materialistic, but something that is memorable.

Gifts that you have planned to give away this Diwali:  Well nothing special, because I have recently bought a new house, so just busy getting things for it.

Are you  a Compulsive  or a Smart Buyer:  I'm a smart buyer as I buy that stuff which I feel is necessary. I don't go for unnecessary shopping.

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: Once my dad gifted me a watch that he had bought from . It was very expensive and I use to wear it only at occasions.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts : Go for sweets and avoid bursting crackers

Any Memorable Gift you have got on Diwali: I keep getting sweets, but once a person had sent me a pooja ki thali which was very sweet and the most memorable gift I could expect on Diwali.

Advice you would like to give on this Diwali on selecting gifts for your near and dear ones: Go for sweets and spread the same sweetness with your near and dear ones.
