Scroll down to find out if your favorite spooky show is on the list

It is quite evident that Indian television is dominated by supernatural thriller shows and characters. Currently, every channel has multiple shows with supernatural elements and strange storylines imbibed in it. Despite the unbelievable plots and some hilarious VFX, the shows are enjoying a good run simultaneously breaking the TRP records.

Well there also was a time when good horror/thriller shows ruled the television screens. Some shows had engaging plots and great screenplay but unfortunately they got overshadowed by the family dramas. Therefore, on this week's list of freaky friday, we present you with some shows that totally freaked us out with their horror stories and plots. So here we begin...

Tamanna House:

Thriller show Tamanna House loosely based on Agatha Christie's novels, aired on Zee TV, it revolved around a couple Tamanna and Dilip who decided to throw a bizarre party celebrating their divorce, for which Tamanna sets some weird party rules. Namely, the number of guests allowed in the party would be 10. Tamanna arranges a game for everyone and announces a whopping 5 crore prize money for the winner. As the game proceeds, a murder is committed and the party gets transformed into a murder mystery.

Whoa! Now that's an interesting yet spooky bash.

Anamika:

Telecasted on Sony TV, Anamika was a hair-raising thriller. The show revolved around a lad named Jeet, who starts encountering a gorgeous yet mysterious woman called Anamika. Anamika later happens to seduce Jeet and keeps him a captive. His family tries hard to save him from the negative energy of this witch and they also try to kill her. Much to their horror she returns as a spirit. The show ends with Jeet and Anamika's love story, with a flashback plot that reveals they are lovers who didn't meet a good fate.

This story was really mysterious and engaging.

Achanak 37 Saal Baad:

Psychological thriller Achanak 37 saal baad aired on Sony TV between 2002-2003. The centerpiece of the show was a little village named Gahota, where people experienced paranormal activities. Strange things happened in Gahota after every 37 years, which caused a strange hysteria in people leading them to kill others/themselves and without having any recollection after this barbaric cycle completes. Later, it is revealed that a devil's henchman controls the villagers' minds. The story revolves around how a young lad, Ajinkya, kills himself in order to save others is what this spine-chilling story was about.

Now that's equal parts interesting and spooky.

Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat:

Interestingly this show too aired on Sony TV. The story revolved around a gullible young woman Nikki who moved to a new city to start a new life. Unfortunately, her unpleasant past followed her and soon enough, she found herself caught in complex situations and began to fear her safety. She realized that reality can be stranger than fiction. And she gets stalked by a hooded killer who killed everybody around Nikki, one by one. This savage story unfolds, with Nikki exposed to dark and shocking secrets before the killer finally gets to her.

The story line is extremely gripping and intriguing.

Woh:

The horror/thriller series Woh telecasted on Zee TV in 1998, starred Ashustosh Gowarikar as the main protagonist. Loosely based on Stephen King's novel 'It', the story was a mix of horror and mystery. Seven teenagers battled a malevolent being called Woh. Mr Woh killed and kidnapped children in the form of Pennywise, the dancing clown. Fifteen years after they defeated this bloodthirsty being, the clown returned. All the friends reunited and fought him once and for all.

We did it before Hollywood could even think!!
