Fashion Face-Off: Deepika Padukone vs Kareena Kapoor Khan

The annually held IIFA Awards, hosted in different locations worldwide, is a feast for fashionistas, Bollywood fanatics and the media all together. The glitz and glamour of the red carpet lures everyone towards this prestigious event and this year's IIFA was no exception.

With some stunning and some not so stunning appearances from our favourite Bollywood stars, the Fashion Police had a gala time during the IIFA weekend. Despite all the lights, cameras and action, we did not miss Deepika Padukone wearing an outfit which bore a stark resemblance to an outfit we had previously seen on Kareena Kapoor Khan.

The scintillating Deepika Padukone is riding high on the success of Bajirao Mastani and Piku. Be it her film or sartorial choices, she had the audiences whistling to her glamour and glitter throughout the year. Attending the IIFA weekend earlier this month, Padukone stepped out in a charred black armor of a Swapnil Shinde column gown. A risky dress by the applauded designer that very few could have worked had Padukone's name written all over it.

The risque ensemble was paired with a pearl beaded necklace by Farah Khan Fine Jewellery, drawing attention to the plunging neckline. Channelling her inner fashionista, Padukone chose to tie her hair up in an avant-garde up-do. And can we appreciate the dramatic winged liner and nude lips which completed this stunning yet daring look? Padukone was conventionally the best dressed of the night. While the dress was an eye catching one, it was the sheer radiance with which Padukone carried this attire, her confidence in her stature and fierce looks that made for a stellar appearance!

But wait!

Keeping it royal during the 2014 IIFA was the Begum herself, Kareena Kapoor Khan. The soon to-be mommy shocked people when she strutted the red carpet in a black crepe Armani gown, flaunting oodles of dcolletage. However, unlike Padukone, Khan had illusion pads to conceal the steep cleavage bearing neckline. The look was finished with fresh pinky nude lips, no jewels except the rock on her pink painted fingers and a loose up-do. It was a heady mix of elegance and sultriness.

The Fashion Police had an arduous time deciding the coveted winner of this much hyped Fashion Face-Off. We would love to declare both sightings as fashion wins, and so that is exactly what we will do. It requires a certain calibre of sophistication and chutzpah to carry off dresses like these, which both actresses seem to possess, making it some of their best appearances to date. With such results, it is injustice to crown one with the winner's title.

DP looks better for me. Kareena is gorgeous no doubt but this is a kind of outfit which will look better on someone with a lean figure not curvy. Every outfit can't look good on every body type. People with a lean body can't carry off outfits meant for a curvy body as well as the curvaceous women do but this is not to say they look bad in them. It's just that some people carry off certain outfits in a better manner.

Both DP and Kareena look awesome and elegant in the dress... However, according to the pic, the dress compliments DP better - if Kareena's dress was accompanied with visible jewellery, even if a simple necklace or studs (instead of only a ring), it wouldn't have looked so drab since it is plain solid black..

Both looks amazing .. Deeps is sexy whereas Kareena is regal .. nonetheless, both are elegant .. two most beautiful ladies of contemporary Bollywood.
Ohh I have to give it to those who called Dips skinny and Kareena fat ass (or something like that) .. girls, it's the camera angle .. while Deeps' pic is taken from a distance, Kareena's one is taken from a closer angle .. so the outcome looks different. Before, giving your amazing comments .. see, observe, and understand.
