EXCLUSIVE: I am lucky that I got selected for Kasam so quickly - Shivani Tomar

When news of lead Kratika Sengar's role ending in Colors' Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki came out, fans of the actress were left disheartened. Ssharad Malhotra and Kratika Sengar who essayed the roles of Rishi and Tanu respectively, set standards so high for the viewers that the show's audience is not ready to settle for less.

The show, which has a reincarnation theme is all set to move into the second season will now see actress Shivani Tomar step into the shoes of Kratika Sengar as the reincarnated Tanu with the name Tanuja.

Tellybuzz chatted up exclusively with Shivani about Kasam and many more things.

How did you bag the show?

I gave auditions for Kasam at a time when they were almost about to end and my show got scrapped at the same time. So I auditioned for the role of Tanu. I cleared both the mock rounds and bagged the show in spite of giving the auditions very late. I consider myself very lucky.

What made you choose Kasam?

Firstly, I always wanted to do a Balaji show. And secondly, Kasam is a very nice and different project. I used to follow the show during its initial days. Also, I know Vibha Chibber, who plays the role of Rano. She also advised me to take up the show.

Tell us something about your character.

I play Tanuja, who is the reincarnated version of Tanu. My character is very bubbly, chirpy and full of life. Basically, I have all the traits that Rishi had before he lost his love. Rishi will now be a brooding and become a serious man while I will be just the opposite.

Did you prepare for the role of Tanuja?

Yes. It helped that I had watched the show earlier as I had a better idea of what the show is all about. Also, I prepped myself up by watching Kajol. She has portrayed a bubbly character in many of her movies.

How similar or different is Shivani to Tanuja?

I am my own self only when I am with my closed ones. Otherwise, I am a bit closed off with outsiders. As for Tanuja, she is outgoing and loves her family to bits and pieces and can do anything for them.

Ssharad and Kratika's pairing was an instant hit with the audience. Are you skeptical about whether or not you'll be able to match up to them or not?

I do not know that. I'll obviously give it my best shot. It won't be easy as he will play a 43 year old man and I will be in my 20s. Honestly, fans will take time to adjust to the new pairing as they have gotten used to watching the old pair, which is absolutely fair.

You shot with Ssharad for the promo. How was it working with him so far?

I was not well that day, so could not get to speak to people. But Ssharad was very sweet and helpful that day.

The show is also one of the top shows on Colors. Is there pressure from that aspect as well?

Yes, there is. But I am not paying attention to all that. If I do, it will affect my acting and that is exactly what I do not want to do. I don't follow the number game, but all I want to do is give my 100% to the show and not let it go down.

Your comeback show opposite Barun Sobti was scrapped at the last minute. What was the reason?

There were a lot many issues with the channel. Then the shoot was moved from Mumbai to Delhi. And a lot of other factors contributed to the scrapping of the show.

Lastly, how was it working with Barun?

Barun is very humble. He was also very helpful and sweet. We shot in all for three episodes and Barun guided me throughout.

Shivani will start shooting for her part from tomorrow. And her entry will air sometime in this week itself. We wish the girl tremendous luck for Kasam.
