Eijaz Khan, known for his roles in Jawan, Dhoom Dhaam, City of Dreams, and Adhrishyam, reflects on the unsettling shift in climate patterns as he speaks on the occasion of World Environment Day.
“Summers have become extremely hot and harsh, while winters feel shorter and less defined,” he says, noting that the most dramatic change has come with the monsoons. “I used to marvel at how beautifully nature works. But now, that rhythm is gone. It’s all unpredictable.”
Eijaz, who grew up spending most of his time outdoors — playing sports in different seasons — shares how those memories have taken on a new meaning. “We didn’t realise how closely our everyday experiences were tied to the stability of the environment. Now, even a simple walk feels uncertain. I believe our nervous system is impacted by this disruption.”
Addressing basic civic issues, Eijaz says, “Cleanliness is no longer just a societal issue; it's a survival issue. We must not just romanticize the idea of change. It should feel like a collective movement — and that starts with accountability, respect for ground workers, and real enforcement.”

His vision for the future includes strong public transport infrastructure, cleaner construction practices, and protecting the city’s green lungs. “In Mumbai, we build roads and bridges — but what we need is better public transport. That’s how real cities function.”
Eijaz also opens up about his personal habits. “I try to live simply. I reuse water, segregate waste, avoid plastic, and walk or cycle when I can. I’m not perfect, but consistency matters.”
Does he believe celebrities can drive change? “Of course. Fame should have a purpose. I think people follow actions more than words. That’s where the real influence lies.”
