Anurag Dobhal, a prominent motovlogger, YouTuber, and social media sensation known as uk07 Rider, made his debut in the Bigg Boss 17 house today. The well-known YouTuber, also recognized as Babu Bhaiya and boasting an impressive subscriber count of over 2 million, recently had an exclusive discussion with India Forums. In this interview, he explores his upcoming involvement in the renowned reality show, shares his perspective on the YouTube vs. celebrity agenda, discusses the support he received from Elvish Yadav, and delves into various other topics.
How did you feel when you received the news?
When I received the news, it was an incredible moment for me. Coming from a middle-class background, appearing on television was a dream beyond my wildest expectations, something I had envisioned since my childhood while watching stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. And now, it's Salman Khan himself. Sharing the same platform with him is a colossal achievement, and it's a dream come true. Even today, I find it hard to believe that this is actually happening. I'm living my dream, and it's surreal to see it come true.
Are you ready to handle comments about being a YouTuber and having a massive fan base?
For instance, let's take celebrities. They are celebrities because they've earned recognition for their work within their respective industries. On the other hand, I'm often categorized as a YouTuber because I've primarily operated in that space. However, it's important to note that both celebrities and YouTubers have achieved their positions through hard work and by cultivating their own fan bases. Unfortunately, there is always an agenda of YouTubers vs. celebrities. In reality, there's a lot that we, as YouTubers, can learn from celebrities in a positive manner. There's a wealth of knowledge to gain from the entertainment industry.
In recent years, influencers have been given opportunities to showcase their talents and personalities in various fields, including music, entertainment, and reality television. People connect with us, primarily because we offer a glimpse into our everyday lives. This might not always be the case with celebrities. So, the reason people relate to us is because we allow them to connect with us on a more personal level. For example, if I show myself eating a common meal like "rajma chawal" in my video, people can easily relate because they see that I come from a background similar to theirs. It's possible that celebrities also engage in such activities, but they might not showcase it as frequently. People relate to us because they can see themselves in us, and that's what resonates with our audience.
There are speculations that this season might pit celebrity teams against YouTuber teams. What's your take on this? Do you want to ensure that there won't be intentional divisions between these groups?
The factor is that a community will stand up for its community. This has been written in books that people will stand for its community, but that doesn't mean if we can learn things from the opposite community, there is nothing wrong with it. So what I believe is that if I can learn something from the opposite community, then I'll learn. See, nobody is perfect; I'm just 26/27 years old, a phase of life marked by continuous learning, making occasional missteps, and accumulating experiences that lead to personal growth. True maturity comes from acknowledging those mistakes and ensuring they don't become recurring patterns. Irrespective of what others may say or comment, my basic ideal is that in life I have to learn things. I just want to be a better version of myself than I was the previous day. That's it.
We noticed your strong support for Elvish Yadav during his time inside the house. Do you expect a similar level of support from him?
I firmly adhere to the principle of not forming relationships based solely on financial gain. It might come as a surprise, but Elvish extended his support to me even before he became acquainted with me personally. Back then, his actions were not driven by profit motives. During his stint inside the Bigg Boss house, my support for him was not fueled by any profit-oriented agenda, and this remains true now.
Did you receive any valuable tips or advice from Elvish in preparation for your Bigg Boss journey?
I haven't specifically taken any tips or advice for my Bigg Boss journey. This show is a personality game where individuals must be themselves and act according to their own personalities. What works for me might not work for someone else. I haven't discussed my appearance on the show with anyone other than my parents and my team. We're going into Bigg Boss for fun and personal growth, and it will be a unique experience.
