Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's portrayal as Lord Shiva's messenger and Pankaj Tripathi's heartfelt performance as a simple father in 'OMG 2' have deeply resonated with audiences. Despite its limited release and the towering presence of the 'Gadar 2' phenomenon, this movie has crafted its own unique success narrative.

In a conversation with ETimes, director Amit Rai bared his thoughts about the ongoing struggle against the movie's 'A' certificate and shared insights into the uphill battle he fought for its release.

Reflecting on how he managed to navigate the challenges of multiple suggested cuts, Rai shared his strategic approach. "I approached the situation intelligently. While I couldn't directly quote Upanishads, I could reference their contents, and this subtle difference allowed me some maneuvering room."

He also shed light on the personal journey behind the film's creation. "Life offers various challenges. After a 10-year hiatus due to lack of opportunities following 'Road To Sangam,' I faced the daunting task of getting a film made. And then, even after creating a film, there were restrictions imposed. It's a perplexing situation."

He went on to recount the script's arduous journey, mentioning rejections from notable producers like Sony, Karan Johar, and Ashutosh Gowariker. Ultimately, it was Akshay Kumar's courage that provided the crucial backing the film needed.

Within just six days of its release, 'OMG 2' has impressively raked in Rs 80 crore at the box office, poised to breach the coveted 100 crore mark this week.
