Did Nancy Tyagi Stitch Her Cannes 2025 Look? Neha Bhasin Disputes Influencer’s Design Claim

Fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi, who rose to fame for designing and stitching her own outfits, finds herself in the middle of a controversy after singer Neha Bhasin accused her of misleading the public about her Cannes 2025 red carpet look.

On Sunday, May 18, Neha Bhasin took to Instagram stories to share a side-by-side comparison of Nancy’s Cannes outfit and her own. In both photos, the corset appears identical. “This corset looks too familiar hmmmm. Just wondering,” Neha wrote. She followed up with another image of herself wearing the same outfit in December 2024, adding, “Same same.”

The singer also tagged The Source Bombay, a Bandra-based fashion store known for selling and renting high-end garments.

According to The Free Press Journal, Surbhi Gupta, founder and stylist at The Source Bombay, stated that Nancy Tyagi had purchased the outfit from their Mumbai store for Rs 25,000 prior to Cannes 2025. Gupta mentioned that while Nancy was free to wear the outfit as she had paid for it, the design belonged to their store. She clarified that there was no collaboration or barter involved and said Nancy had not stitched the dress herself, as she had publicly claimed. Gupta added that the cape seen in Nancy’s look did not belong to the store and appeared to be something Nancy had made on her own.

Nancy had posted the look on her Instagram, wearing a pearl-embellished mini dress with silver-beige tones, crystal fringe, and a dramatic cape with puffed shoulders and a long train. In her caption, she shared a personal backstory: “Ye colour meri mummy ka favourite hai, isliye iss baar decide kiya ki isi colour mein dress design karun.”

She further wrote, “Isse banane mein poora one month laga… dress kaafi heavy thi… shukriya un sabhi ka jo is journey ka his sa rahe.”

While Nancy’s followers appreciated her for the emotional storytelling and supposed craftsmanship, the allegations have raised concerns over transparency and authenticity in influencer branding. As of now, Nancy has not issued any public statement in response to the claims by Neha or The Source Bombay.
