Devi takes a generation leap; Dipika Samson to play the title role

The wait is finally over, as Imagine and Shakuntalam Telefilms' Devi will see a generation leap very soon, wherein Lakshmi grows into a 21 year old beautiful girl whose unadulterated innocence makes her look lie a real Goddess.

And the girl who has bagged the prized role is Dipika Samson, who is a new face in the industry.

Dipika who had been a cabin crew in one of the Airlines had a penchant to become an actor, and had been sending her folios to all the production houses for quite a while. And it was thro this effort that she managed to get an audition call for Devi and got selected.

Talking about her debut in television as Devi, Dipika told TellyBuzz, "It feels really nice to play the role of Devi in the Imagine show. I feel lucky to have got this role".

On her preparations for the role, the girl said, "I have been part of workshops organized by the production house. Even at home, I have been living a life of Lakshmi".

The entire cast will remain the same. Lakshmi has grown up believing that she is a Devi, but deep down in her heart she is like any other girl stepping into adulthood. Like all the other girls of her age, she too dreams of falling in love and getting married. An eternal optimist, Lakshmi always looks at the positive side of everything and believes that her dreams will turn into reality one day. Deprived of education during childhood, Lakshmi grows up as an illiterate girl who has not had much interaction with the outside world and thinks that the world is as pure as her heart is.

Her entry sequence will be aired very soon, and it will be the occasion of her elder sister's marriage wherein the new face of Devi will be revealed. She will be seen asking her mother as to when she will get her 'Mr. Right'.

We now need to wait and see whether Lakshmi's dreams shape up into reality or not!!
