Confirmed: Rajpal Yadav joins the cast of Coolie No.1 remake

David Dhawan's 1995 classic Coolie No. 1 which starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles is all set to get reprised. The official remake will be directed by David Dhawan himself and the film will be led by Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. The remake has been buzzing around the town since the time it was announced and every now and then updates related to the film makes it to headlines.

After Johnny Lever's entry in the Coolie No. 1 remake, now actor Rajpal Yadav has also joined the cast of the film. "I'm thankful to David Dhawan sir and Varun for giving an opportunity to be a part of Coolie No. 1 remake. This is the third time that I'm acting with Varun. I am really excited about this remake," Rajpal said in an interaction with IANS.

"Ram Gopal Varmaji's 'Jungle' established me as an actor, Priyadarshan sir's 'Hungama' made me popular, and David sir re-established me with 'Judwaa 2'. So, I'm grateful for this opportunity," the actor further added.

Rajpal had earlier worked with Varun in films like Judwaa 2 and Main Tera Hero. Both films were helmed by David Dhawan. 

The original film starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles and became a superhit due to its songs and power-packed performances. Paresh Rawal will be seen in Kader Khan’s role for the reprised version who played Karisma Kapoor’s father in the original film. 

Talking about the film, Varun Dhawan earlier said, "People who have seen Coolie No. 1 already know the basic plotline of the film, so we're adapting that storyline. But there are some aspects in the story that if the movie is releasing in 2020 or 2021, then according to that the freshness required and the factor to get the audiences hooked, keeping logic in mind."
