New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS) Indian entertainment company Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd has joined hands with China's ministry of culture to launch a theatre there.

The theatre was launched in Huainan and is called the Huainan Pyramid Longzhe Theatre Entertainment Tower.

The deal was signed with China's Longzhe Group, which deals in diversified businesses, services and social activities for the development of China, and is supported by The China Society of Music Research Board (CSMRB).

The launch took place in China Wednesday.

'This is our first tie-up with the Chinese government. There is no theatre chain in China as the media and entertainment sector is very controlled there. But they have given us the licence to create an exhibition and distribution structure there,' P.S. Saminathan, Pyramid Saimira chairman and managing director, told IANS over telephone from Chennai.

Pyramid and Longzhe Culture and Theatre Ltd, China (PLCTL), the joint venture, plans to invest Rs.1.5 billion for further expansion.

The theatre is a two-screen cineplex with a seating capacity of 290. Apart from being equipped with digital projectors, the theatre is home to a world class gaming zone and a food court with a variety of cuisines.

The theatre also consists of a bunch of private rooms for music and entertainment called KTV.

The first film to run at the theatre is a popular Chinese film 'Red Rock'.

'We would mainly run Hollywood and Chinese films at the theatre,' said Saminathan.

According to another statement, Pyramid Saimira and CSMRB, had esigned a cultural cooperation agreement, which has paved the way for this business launch.
