Shakti... Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki recently telecast its big revelation episode where the show's not yet clear' concept became crystal clear, which is Transgenders. Rubina Dilaik, who plays the protagonist Soumya and also a transgender in the show was quoted by a leading daily as saying that she took up the show because she saw potential in it to change perceptions that the society has been living in.

After the revelation episode, a series of Colors' bahus were seen supporting Soumya in her fight for acceptance in the society.

We at Tellybuzz, buzzed a few of these bahus to know their take on the Transgender Community.

Sana Amin Sheikh (Aaradhya in Krishnadasi)

This concept has not yet been touched on indian television. It is a sensitive topic bit the truth is that the society does not accept transgenders. On one side, we speak about gender equality, and then we do all this. Not many know that their physical appearance and built is like men. But that does not make them any less talented than us. It's time that we acknowledge them and respect them. They too, are an important part of the society.

Jigyasa Singh (Thapki in Thapki Pyaar Ki)

To be honest, I have never thought about it. But now if I come to think about it, it is something god gifted and natural. It is no one's fault. I think people should accept them which no one does. We feel that it is their (transgenders) fault but it is not. As for the show, it is great and inspirational. Television shows here have the power to influence the viewers. So this show is a great way to bring about a change.

Meera Deosthale (Chakor in Udaan)

There is this song that Colors released titled SabRabKeBande'. I feel every person is God's child. It is not in their hands. We have to accept them the way they are born and not disrespect them. Gender equality out of india, these people are treated equally and enjoy all the rights that we enjoy. The show is a good initiative to spread awareness that being a transgender is not a bad thing. To top it up, the show airs at the 8pm slot. That is the time for families to sit and watch the show which will inturn help in spreading awareness about the transgenders.

Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar (Ragini in Swaragini)

I find the reaction that people give when they get to know that one is a transgender, very weird. The society should support them and not stand against them. It is not in their hands that they are born this way. They are not disabled, they are independent. I am so thankful to Rashmi Sharma Mam, who fought against all odds to get this show running. The show is doing great and I hope it helps in changing the general mentality that is attached to the transgender community.

The revelation episode received mixed reviews from all quarters of the society. But apart from that, the upside that we saw was the Issues of Transgenders in the Society' has become a talking point. Now, how much does this show help break the stereotypes associated with Transgenders is what is to be seen.
