Celebrating festivals doesn't only mean to follow the age old rituals, but it also means to spread joy around us. As the sublime festival of Diwali is around, and while we are greeting and wishing each other a Happy Diwali.. Why not really make it a happier one, by making someone smile?
Popular actor Karan Wahi has started off an initiative, known as '#SpreadASmile' this Diwali and now his initiative is being shared by his industry friends and a lot of supporters who are supporting him in this noble initiative on social media.
You must be wondering what is this initiative all about! Let's find out from Karan himself...
He shared, "It's just a small awareness thing that I have started and I have been doing this from a long time now. A lot of other people also do this, but I have posted this on my social networking site, so that I can spread awareness among people. It's just a simple thought about carrying any edible item in your car, because we see many beggars on the signals asking for money and the main reason behind asking for money is to buy food. Sometimes we do give them money, while at times we don't, thinking they might not use it for themselves or might not use it in a proper way. I think it's a better way to carry some food and directly give it away to them. And every time I do so, I get a smile from them, in return. That's why this initiative has been named as 'Spread A Smile'."
"I have started this initiative on Diwali because we anyways spend too much on crackers and playing cards. So we should save some amount of money and give away something to the needy. I am not stopping anyone from bursting crackers, but at least we can take out a small amount out of our total expenditure, and buy some edibles to distribute among the children. Yesterday Rithvik (Rithvik Dhanjani) called and told me that he wants to join me in my initiative and a lot of other people have also called me. I have also got some T-Shirts made for the needy people and it will soon be distributed among them," added Karan.
"We wish people a happy Diwali, but I think it will be a happier one, if we can make someone else happy.," signs off Karan.
Great initiative Karan! Way to go!
