BTOB's Sungjae And Hyunsik Trend On Twitter As They Enlist In The Army Amidst COVID-18 Outbreak

BTOB’s Sungjae and Hyunsik are the band’s fourth and fifth member to enlist into the army after group leader Eunkwang (discharged on 7 April). Cube Entertainment announced that Sungjae would be leaving SBS’s Master in The House. The actor/band member revealed on 3 May that his enlistment date is 11 May. 

Sungjae asked his fans to support his upcoming project, Mystic Pop-Up Bar. Cube Entertainment also announced that Hyunsik will be enlisted on the same date as Sungjae.

"Hello, this is Sungjae. First, thank you very, very much to all the Melodies who celebrated my birthday! (I saw all the social media posts, advertisements, and events!).

"I didn't know how to begin saying this so I thought about it for a long time.

"But since I was too far from any deep thoughts or concerns, I decided that the right thing was to tell you as soon as possible.

"You will be very surprised, but I have decided to enlist in the military on May 11!

"There will be people who are surprised at this sudden information, as well as people who are concerned, but because of how much love I've received until now from Melodies, I have the confidence that I will receive love and be happy and healthy no matter where I am! I'm not worried! I will be able to go with a comfortable mindset.

"Because of the continuous enlistment of the BTOB members, there will inevitably be a hiatus, but since Melodies are waiting for us, we will gain strength in thinking of the day we will meet again. There isn't a lot of time left, but I will definitely communicate with Melodies through a live broadcast, and the other hyungs will be out soon, and 'Mystic Pop-Up Bar' will premiere soon, so please be patient and wait. The day that BTOB and Melodies meet again will arrive soon!

On May 9, the idol shared a selfie of himself sporting a shorter hairstyle. He wrote, “I tried cutting my bangs a day before shaving my head. What do you think?”

Moments later, he posted another selfie with an even shorter hairstyle. He asked, “How’s this one?”

Yook Sungjae then uploaded a third selfie with his forehead completely exposed after cutting more of his bangs. He said, “Uh oh, I think I’ve failed.”

Eunkwang was discharged in March 2020 according to the military's COVID-19 protocol.
