Bhumi made Roti, Sabzi on a Chullah for Sonchiriya Preparation!

Bhumi Pednekar has really put herself through the grind for Sonchiriya. She plays a girl from the 1970's Chambal valley in Abhishek Chaubey's next and the character required her to play a girl who is domesticated.

Bhumi even needed to perfect working with the traditional challah for the film as Abhishek wanted to authentically portray women from those times to the audience. The perfectionist that she is, Bhumi aced it and how!

"I had to be very comfortable doing all the household things that girls from that era used to do.
Chaubey had actually crated a village in his office! He actually made me a chullah and I would go with one of the ADs, collect twigs from Aaram Nagar and actually go burn a fire on my own and cook food on the challah. I learnt kneading the dough, making sabzi on that one challah! It is actually very difficult because just lighting the chullah your eyes start watering. It is hot you keep burning yourself - it is not the convenience of a regular kitchen. Everything takes time, things keep burning and it is very tough. I like literally fed people from Chaubey's team for over a month!"

Bhumi Pednekar embodies the fact that talent and hard work can make one a true, big success story. Bhumi stands out for her confidence and sheer range as an actor who has delivered outstanding performances in her first three films. With three hits in 3 films - Bhumi's definitely a lucky charm for her directors!
