Bharti Achrekar from 'Wagle Ki Duniya' opens up on Gudipadwa memories

The celebration of Gudi Padwa marks the beginning of the Marathi New Year and is a joyful occasion for Maharashtrians. And the festival is believed to bring prosperity and good luck into the house. Bharti Achrekar, who is reprising the role of Radhika Wagle in the new version of SAB TV's Wagle Ki Duniya, shared her thoughts about the festival. 

"Gudi Padwa signifies the beginning of a new year in the Hindu calendar. Growing up, I look back at this day with the fondest of memories, from the first time I adorned a navaree saree to waiting in anticipation for my mother's famous puran poli. We start our day with chutney of Kadunimb leaves which are bitter but great for your health. This ensures you start the year on a healthy note. Gudi in Marathi is the flag of triumph. I like to look at it as triumphing over the difficulties one has faced in the last year and turning over a new leaf for the upcoming year." says Bharti Achrekar, aka Radhika Wagle. 

Wagle Ki Duniya, which aired on Doordarshan from 1988 to 1990, returned to television on SAB TV. Veteran actors Aanjjan Srivastav and Bharti Achrekar reprised their roles in the new version of the show.
