Being at par with changing times is the call of the day, but that does not mean one should lose their individuality. In today’s day and age, when social media and technological advancement govern our lives, we are losing touch with the real world, feels experts. Celebs too have voiced their concern, especially how social media number game and popularity is giving them sleepless nights.  Much like others, Balraj Syal too feels that actors are losing their original self and goals of focusing on craft and wasting energy in trying to match the current times. The actor-host-comedian feels many have lost touch with their original selves and have gone off track.

“While staying up-to-date and evolving with time is a positive thing, creating content out of desperation, solely for the sake of chasing success or wondering why someone else's reels are going viral instead of theirs, is concerning,” he says.

This desperation, according to him, has led people to produce content that they themselves won't want to watch in a few months' time. He explains his point of view with an example.

“A prime example of this is the way social media platforms like Facebook bring back memories by showing us our past posts and pictures. After viewing those old pictures, we often find ourselves questioning why we even posted them. This is why a significant number of people choose not to reshare or untag themselves from those memories, or even delete them altogether. However, once something is posted on a public platform, it becomes nearly impossible to completely erase it. Even if you delete a story within a minute of posting it, it has likely already reached a thousand people who may have saved it or taken a screenshot,” he adds.

There's no escaping the consequences of sharing content online, states Balraj. “It's essential to have a sense of caution and avoid the desperation that may lead to regret in the future. Consider the long-term implications of the content you create and strive to maintain authenticity rather than blindly following trends or seeking instant fame. Building a genuine connection with your audience while creating good content should be the ultimate goal,” he ends.
