Ashi Singh on working with Shabir Ahluwalia: “We become Yug and Kairi when the camera rolls”

Sony SAB’s show Ufff…Yeh Love Hai Mushkil beautifully explores love and emotions. The story follows Yug Sinha (played by Shabir Ahluwalia), a smart yet emotionally guarded lawyer, and Kairi Sharma (played by Ashi Singh), a cheerful and emotional law student who believes in love.

Together, they bring out the show’s unique charm and emotional depth.

In a candid chat, Ashi Singh opened up about how portraying Kairi has helped her evolve as an actor and a person. Ashi shared that when she first started playing Kairi, she assumed the character had limited emotions. But as she got deeper into the role, she discovered how complex Kairi truly is. “Kairi feels one thing but often does another. It’s a beautiful challenge to portray her inner conflict,” Ashi said.

Talking about her personal connection to the role, Ashi admitted that she also believes in love and trust, though she takes time to open up. “Once I trust or love someone, I give it my all—just like Kairi,” she said.

The chemistry between Kairi and Yug stands out on screen, and Ashi believes that’s because she and Shabir completely immerse themselves in their characters. “We carry their emotions and that brings authenticity to our scenes,” she explained.

Ashi feels a strong connection to Kairi’s positivity and problem-solving attitude. “Kairi doesn’t overthink, and I admire that about her. I tend to overanalyze everything,” Ashi admitted with a smile.

Reflecting on emotional scenes, Ashi recalled one moment where her siblings were leaving and another involving a hospital scene with her mother. “These scenes challenged me emotionally. It wasn’t just acting—it was about truly feeling the character’s pain,” she said.

Working alongside talented actors like Shabir Ahluwalia and Supriya Shukla has been a learning experience for Ashi. “They give valuable suggestions and are so grounded. I’ve grown both as an actor and as a person around them,” she said warmly.

Ashi also acknowledged how this role has changed her overall approach to acting. “Playing Kairi has helped me polish my performance and see my craft differently,” she added.

Looking ahead, she teased an upcoming track where Kairi falls for Yug, despite knowing he’s not been kind to her. “Sometimes, our hearts don’t listen to logic. That emotional honesty will connect deeply with the audience,” Ashi concluded.
