Veteran actress Aruna Irani, known for her iconic roles in Bollywood, recently encountered an unexpected setback during a shopping trip to Bangkok. Aruna Irani, who had just arrived in Bangkok, took a tumble while walking on the road, injuring herself. Luckily, she got medical help right away and spent two weeks in Bangkok recovering before heading back to Mumbai.
While talking to Etimes, Aruna Irani joked about her accident in Bangkok, saying, "Itni masti karungi toh ye toh hona hi tha." (If I have so much fun, then this was bound to happen.) But her troubles didn't end there. When she got back to Mumbai, she got sick with a virus, making it take even longer to feel completely better.
Aruna Irani explained that her Bangkok trip was just for fun, a chance to shop and relax. But instead of a relaxing getaway, she ended up with unexpected medical bills. "This trip turned out to be costlier than I had imagined," she said with a laugh, acknowledging the irony.
When fans heard about her accident, they flooded social media with messages of love and support. Many, who have watched her career in both Bollywood and television, expressed concern and wished for a speedy recovery.
On the professional front, Aruna Irani is making a much-anticipated comeback to Gujarati cinema with her upcoming film, "Jalso." Directed by Rajiv S Ruia, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Hiten Tejwani, Hemang Dave, Bhavin Bhanushali, and Puja Joshi. Her last cinematic outing was the romantic-comedy "Ghudchadi," alongside Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Parth Samthaan, and Khushalii Kumar. The film, a remake of the 2023 Bengali movie "Love Marriage," premiered on JioCinema on August 9, 2024.
Aruna Irani's illustrious career spans over 500 films across Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati cinema, primarily in supporting and character roles. Interestingly, acting wasn't her initial dream—she harbored aspirations of becoming a doctor. However, due to financial constraints, her family couldn't afford to educate all their children, leading her to leave school after the sixth standard and eventually embrace the world of cinema.
