Arrest warrant issued against actor Saba Qamar by Pakistan Court

Actor Saba Qamar, who primarily works in Pakistani films and TV shows has landed herself in some trouble as of now. A local court in Pakistan has issued a bailable arrest warrant against her. This was done following a case being registered against Qamar pertaining a controversial shoot from last year.

Qamar and the team landed in this mix owing to a shoot for a dance video that took place a historical mosque in Lahore. Last year, the Lahore police had registered a case under section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code for alleged ‘desecration’ of Masjid Wazir Khan. Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed have apparently been avoiding court hearings and hence Lahore’s magisterial court issued the bailable warrants.

Qamar and Saeed reportedly posted apologies after facing severe criticism and death threats on social media. According to PTI, Qamar had said, “It was the music video featuring a Nikah (marriage) scene. It was neither shot with any sort of playback music nor has it been edited to the music track.”

Qamar has been one of the most popular faces in the Pakistani entertainment industry and made her Bollywood debut a few years ago with the massively successful, Hindi Medium opposite the late-great Irrfan Khan.

Earlier this year, Qamar was also in news owing for calling off her marriage with fiancé Azeem Khan. He is a Pakistani-Australian blogger and a businessman by profession. In a social media statement, the actress had revealed that she had never met Azeem Khan in her life and was calling off the wedding for ‘personal reasons’.
