Anupamaa: The Kotharis know about Mahi and Prem's broken engagement

In tonight's episode of Anupamaa, Moti Baa questions Rahi about her reluctance to marry Prem despite loving him. She insists that Rahi disclose her reason. Rahi explains that she is currently focused on building her career and is not mentally ready for marriage. Khyati then asks her if she sees a future with Prem, to which Rahi admits that she does want to marry him but only after understanding him better. She ultimately declines the proposal. Prem supports her decision, stating that he, too, is not ready for marriage at this point. Rahi then requests Moti Baa to give her some time.

Anupama steps in and apologises to Moti Baa on Rahi's behalf, emphasising that neither Rahi nor Prem is ready for this commitment. However, Moti Baa expresses her disappointment, stating that she hasn't punished Rahi for the choices she failed to make responsibly. Anupama stands up for Rahi, arguing that times have changed and marriages should not be forced without mutual consent. However, Moti Baa immediately counters her argument, stating that consent was indeed considered. She explains that the family was already aware of Prem and Rahi's feelings for each other and clarifies that they didn't rush into marriage but only performed a small ritual to avoid unnecessary gossip. She then points out that even Anupama had hastily arranged Prem and Mahi's engagement in the past, leaving everyone shocked.

Before the discussion could escalate, Prem steps in, reminding everyone that the engagement with Mahi was done in haste, and yet it didn't even last for a few hours. He adds that this experience made him realise that rushing into marriage is not the right decision, which is why they have now chosen to take their time.

Moti Baa then turns to Prem and questions why he is hesitant to formally acknowledge his relationship with Rahi. When he tries to explain, she dismisses it and asserts that modern women, in their pursuit of independence, are the reason relationships fail. She cites Prathana's happy marriage as an example while making it clear that she disapproves of Rahi's career ambitions.

Anupama counters Moti Baa's argument, asserting that financial independence is essential for women. Moti Baa, however, claims that the Kothari family is well-off and does not need their women to work. Anupama stresses that life is unpredictable, and having a career is important. Meanwhile, Parag accuses Prem of prioritising his work at the Shah house over his responsibilities. This leads to an argument between Prem and Parag. Anupama once again defends both Prem and Rahi, supporting their choices.

Moti Baa then expresses concern over what might happen if Prem and Rahi make a decision outside the bounds of marriage. Anupama reassures her, saying she should trust their upbringing. However, Moti Baa points out that Rahi has already run away twice, and even Pakhi and Toshu had an elopement. She challenges Anupama's beliefs about marriage and divorce.

Toshu remarks that Anupama always has a speech ready, while Pakhi accuses her of standing in the way of their dreams. Moti Baa strongly opposes the idea of divorce, leading Anupama to recount the circumstances that led to her separation from Vanraj. However, Moti Baa dismisses Anupama's viewpoint, claiming that she has a flawed understanding of divorce. She then questions whether Anupama intends to give Rahi the same advice. She harshly remarks that Anupama, having failed in her own marriage, would not allow her daughter's relationship to succeed. Anupama is left stunned by Moti Baa's words.
