Anupamaa: Rahi accepts her new name as Suman, agreeing to change it after marriage

In tonight's episode of Anupamaa, Rahi acknowledges the Kothari family's tradition of changing a bride's name after marriage and agrees to embrace this custom. However, she sets a condition—if she has to adopt a new name, Prem should also change his. Her unexpected demand leaves Moti Baa stunned.

Moti Baa firmly states that name-changing is a practice followed only by women, as it does not apply to men. This prompts Prem to challenge the norm, questioning why the custom is one-sided when marriage is a union of equals. He insists that if a name change is necessary, it should apply to both of them; otherwise, neither should be required to alter their identity. He further clarifies that while they are willing to perform significant rituals out of respect and love for the family, they will not adhere to traditions that hold no real significance for them. His stance leaves Moti Baa deeply shocked.

Later, the Shah family discusses updating the wedding card by restoring Rahi's original name. Leela remarks that it's good the Kotharis agreed to Rahi's request. However, Anupamaa clarifies that it was actually Prem who convinced Moti Baa. She further reveals that apart from the wedding and vidaai, all other ceremonies will be hosted at the Kothari residence.

Toshu questions Anupama's decision to hold the wedding at their house and argues that it was unnecessary for her to take on such an expense. Frustrated, he expresses his discontent over the financial burden. However, Hasmuk remarks that Toshu fails to grasp the essence of the situation. Toshu predicts that Moti Baa will not be pleased, to which Leela responds that Moti Baa is rarely satisfied with anything.

On the other hand, Parag confronts Moti Baa about her approval of the wedding at the Shah house. He voices his concerns regarding the limited space available to accommodate their guests. However, Moti Baa insists that in order to prevent Prem from leaving, it is essential to comply with Anupama's conditions. She advises Parag to prioritise Prem's happiness over societal expectations. Additionally, she decides to host a celebratory gathering after the wedding. Meanwhile, Anupama plans to invite the Kothari family for lunch.

On Valentine's day, Rahi and Prem choose to celebrate the occasion with the Shah family, believing that love should be cherished with those closest to them. They express their affection and gratitude, making the atmosphere lively and heartwarming. To surprise the family, they bring a cake, leading to a cheerful cake-cutting ceremony where Prem feeds Rahi first, followed by Rahi doing the same for him. The couple then exchange warm wishes, while Mahi struggles to hide her unease over their growing bond.

Adding to the festivities, Rahi and Prem distribute red roses to everyone. When Prem hands one to Mahi, she is visibly delighted. After giving roses to all, the couple exchanges yellow roses, prompting Toshu to question the significance behind this gesture. Rahi explains that while they are sharing yellow roses in the moment, they plan to exchange red ones in private when they celebrate later. As the celebration continues, Rahi and Prem share that their most meaningful gift to each other is a promise—to grow old together. Hearing this, Anupama is reminded of the time when she made a similar vow to Anuj, lost in nostalgia. During the festivities, Prem and Rahi ask Anupama about her first Valentine's Day with Anuj. Anupama hesitates, stating she cannot share such memories in front of Leela and Hasmuk. However, Leela and Hasmuk playfully insist that they are not eavesdropping. Encouraged, Anupama recalls how Anuj proposed to her on their first Valentine's Day together.

Following this, the Shahs discuss their own Valentine's Day plans. Prem confesses that his family is unfamiliar with this celebration, prompting Rahi to express her enthusiasm about bringing a fun and lively atmosphere to the Kothari house after their wedding. However, Prem reminds her that they will be living separately post-marriage.

Meanwhile, Anupama moves forward with inviting the Kotharis. Moti Baa instructs her to carry out a specific wedding ritual. Concerned about finances, Anupama decides to take on additional work to ensure there are no shortcomings in Rahi's wedding preparations. However, she is taken aback upon noticing Mahi holding a red rose.

Elsewhere, Ishani meets Raja and, following Pakhi's guidance, makes a dramatic love confession. She is elated when Raja accepts her proposal, further fueling her excitement.

On Valentine's Day, Rahi motivates Khyati and Anil to celebrate with their respective partners. Khyati surprises Parag by dressing up specially for him, bringing back fond memories of their past.
