Anupamaa: Moti Baa and Anupama clash over the latter having multiple surnames

Star Plus' show Anupamaa takes an exciting turn after the leap with the introduction of fresh faces, including Spreha Chatterjee, Shivam Khajuria, and Adrija Roy. The plot thickens with the arrival of the wealthy Kothari family, whose dark past has caused Prem to sever all ties with them, fueling his resentment. The drama intensifies further as the Kotharis visit the Shahs, seeking forgiveness and proposing Rahi's marriage to Prem. While Anupama and Rahi are given time to consider the offer, it becomes clear that the Kotharis have an ulterior motive—they are determined to reintroduce Prem into their family, no matter the cost.

In the upcoming episode of Anupamaa, Moti Baa, impressed by Rahi's knowledge of Shri Nath's aarti, her melodious voice, and her good upbringing, asks her for a favour, requesting that she not refuse. When the Kotharis discuss Rahi and Prem's marriage, they perform a ritual for the soon-to-be bride, draping Rahi with a red dupatta and presenting her with a shagun, urging her to marry quickly and become part of their family. However, Rahi expresses her reluctance towards marriage, surprising everyone.

Rahi reveals her desire to focus on her independence before getting married, as she has learned from her mother that no matter how wealthy the family, a woman should always be financially independent. This shocks Moti Baa, who doesn't share the same view. Prem steps in to defend Rahi, urging Moti Baa to understand her perspective. However, Moti Baa, unable to grasp the situation, bursts out in anger, questioning what there is to understand. She then makes a hurtful remark, stating that modern-day marriages are failing because women are trying to act like men.

She then goes too far by insulting Anupama's divorces, stating that whatever your surname is—Shah, Kapadia, or Joshi—such antics may be accepted in your family, but they will not be tolerated in the Kothari family. Anupama steps in, supporting Rahi, and responds to Moti Baa, saying that if you start throwing mud at relationships before they even begin, how will they move forward?
