Amid conversation around his 'Maharashtrian cap'; Mohit Malik questions 'why has it come down to religion?'

The internet is truly a funny place, for while it gets so many things right and surprises us, it also gets so many things wrong, creating a fuss about absolutely inaccurate things. And the most recent incident is how photos from a year ago, from Addite Malik's 'godhbharai' ceremony, have been doing rounds and her husband Mohit Malik's Maharashtrian topi has been assumed to be an Islamic cap.

Following this, it did not take a lot of time for many to cry foul, to an extent that they called it 'Love Jihad'. However, it clearly is a case of inaccurate information and it has in fact, lead to Mohit question why has it all come down to religion. 

Mohit had also shared a story on his social media, sharing a screenshot of a portal talking about the entire saga. Mohit went on to write: Why has it all come down to religion? And why now after a year? I wonder.....

All of this started as netizens pointed out how the clothing brand in question is promoting 'Love Jihad'. ‘Love jihad’ is a phrase coined and popularised by rightwing Hindutva groups alleging an unproven conspiracy led by Muslims to convert Hindu women into Islam through marriage.

However, it is inaccurate assumption after all, and so, Mohit decided to speak up.

On the work front, Mohit is gearing up for his OTT debut. Touted to be an intense crime thriller, the Voot special show will see Mohit playing a role completely contradictory to his previous onscreen characters. The series will also star Sanaya Irani alongside Mohit in the lead role. Both Mohit and Sanaya are going to be playing exciting characters in this much awaited series.
