Ameesha Patel opens up about battling negativity: Logo ne Gadar ko gutter kaha tha

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2001 blockbuster, Gadar, is all set to hit the floors next month. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 brings back the iconic chemistry of Sakeena and Tara Singh, portrayed by Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol, respectively, alongside Utkarsh Sharma in a lead role. The excitement among fans is palpable, especially after the recent release of the film's trailer on July 26.

During the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Ameesha Patel candidly shared her experience with the original Gadar and how it faced severe criticism even before its release. She fondly recalled the day when Anil Sharma narrated the story of Gadar and offered her the role of Sakeena. Despite the brilliant premise, Ameesha revealed that some people discouraged her from taking the role, labelling the project as a "gutter."

Unfazed by the negative comments, Ameesha decided to take on the challenge and said, "I believe in facing challenges head-on. Before Gadar's release, people had dismissed it, but the negativity touched my heart. I knew I would work harder to prove them wrong." The actress acknowledged that even for Gadar 2, she faced similar skepticism but expressed gratitude to her team for believing in her abilities.

Reflecting on those initial doubts, she added that she finds challenges fascinating. The beautiful love story of Gadar was perhaps unmatched, and she couldn't turn it down. The actress said it was tough, but Anil Ji patiently worked with her for six months, crafting the Gadar look and dialogues.

Gadar 2 is slated for release on August 11, 2023, and the excitement among fans continues to mount. Besides Ameesha Patel, Sunny Deol, and Utkarsh Sharma, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, Manish Wadhwa, Mir Sarwar, Gaurav Chopra, Dolly Bindra, and others, who will be seen in key roles.
