Aly Goni Reveals FACING DISCRIMINATION for being Kashmiri: 'Hum Muslims ko ghar nahi dete'

Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin, a popular TV couple, have moved in together in Mumbai. But, finding a place wasn't easy. Aly talked about facing discrimination when looking for a home, sharing that he was treated unfairly because he is a Kashmiri Muslim.

On the InControversial Podcast, Aly said that landlords often rejected him, even though he's well-known in the industry.

I have never faced discrimination in the industry for being Kashmiri. However, I faced it a lot during the house hunt. Aaj bhi hota hai. Jasmin and I were searching for a house, but many people rejected us, saying, ‘Hum Muslims ko ghar nahi dete.’ The majority of them were the old people

Despite widespread acceptance in showbiz, Aly Goni shared that he has faced housing discrimination, a stark reality that persists despite his success. He noted that societal barriers still exist.

Reflecting on his career, the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor discussed the hurdles young actors encounter. While acknowledging the difficulties, Aly attributed his steady career growth to the support he received from within the industry. "The struggle is there. It is everywhere, but in showbiz, we get a lot of disappointments. We faced a lot of challenges right from the audition process to casting in the show. Nowadays, due to social media, people get famous by making reels. Sometimes we would doubt ourselves when the casting director avoided us casting in the project by giving some vague reasons. Young actors don’t know what the audition is. I got support from the industry people. Especially, Ekta Kapoor has kept me in every possible show of Balaji. Struggle is never going to end," he said.

Aly is on Laughter Chefs 2 now. He and Jasmin live together, but they aren't planning to get married soon.
