'Age would never be a criteria when I marry'- Kritika Kamra

Tellybuzz in talks with Kritika Kamra, lead of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge on Sony TV

Kritika Kamra as bride on Kuch Toh Log KahengeBoth Dr.Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh have a very good understanding of at least professional matters as both are doctors. Do you think those who marry in the same profession have a better understanding?

It might just help. It helps being in the same profession. However what ultimately helps is the understanding of each others professional needs and ambitions. Even if not in the same profession if you are equally excited on your partner's career success, I think it works.

Dr.Nidhi went on a honeymoon to the National Park. Where would you like to go for a honeymoon after marriage?

I would surely not go for a honeymoon to the National Park. I think I would go to some island. I think it would be by the sea.

You said in an interview that you would not work after marriage. Is that correct?

Yes, I remember reading that. It is one of my dreams. I want to work very hard before I get married and settled down. I want to achieve a lot before marriage and then enjoy my personal life.

You are a fitness freak and want to eat healthy. Can you keep up to that lifestyle now that you are working daily for long hours?

All actors would like to lead a perfect life. After all every day we must look presentable in front of the camera. We now work for 14 to 15 hours daily and travel too. When we return home we are too tired to hit the gym.

Also I am a foodie who can binge on anything. I however hope to get into some routine very soon. My co-star Sharad has however promised to introduce me to some magic diet. It is very healthy which is to ensure that I will have proper food and stay fit.

Like Dr.Nidhi would you be comfortable in marrying a much older man?

Girls anyway mature too fast. When there is an age difference you connect better with the man. There are no petty issues like jealousy and possessiveness. You look up to and respect an older husband.

In these huge age gap marriages, one partner is more mature and another person is more fun. The interests of these two people would be different. The two would like to do different things at different points of time. If they however have the correct understanding and give one another space it will work out.

Age would never be a criteria when I marry. If I like someone I wouldn't care if he was younger, the same age or older. I would prefer slightly older though, maybe by a couple of years older or someone who is extraordinarily mature for our age.

Which historical character would you like to play given the opportunity?

I would like to play a Mughal wife like Jodha Akbar or Noor Jahan. I generally hate being decked up in jewellery. However I would love to dress in jewellery to play a historical character. That is because I love period films and its characters.

Are you happy that Kuch Toh Log Kahenge has been shifted to the 11pm slot?

I am very happy with the shift. Many urban viewers watch the show. This timing is convenient for them. Many people find the 11pm slot convenient as they return home from work and have finished their work by that time. We may lose out on some viewers who watched the show at 8pm. It has however ultimately benefited us.

The TRP of your show isn't that good. Please comment on that.

I understand that going by the trend of Indian TV it isn't a show that has a mass appeal. Maybe Rowdy Rathore does better than Shanghai. This doesn't however mean that Shanghai is not good.

How does it feel like playing a married woman on the show?

This is the first show in which I have played the role of a married woman. The way Dr.Nidhi and Dr. Ashutosh got married was interesting.

The post-marriage track is interesting too. There is no kitchen drama. The love triangle theme has been on other shows. However the way it's being dealt with on our show is interesting.

Have you been asked to copy Dr.Zoya of Dhoop Kinare on which your show has been based?

When we started off there were certain situations that were similar as our show was adapted from Dhoop Kinare. But that series was just 18 episodes. We have gone on for many months now. So after a certain point Kuch Toh Log Kahenge had to take off the story on its own. I was never ever asked to ape Dr.Zoya anyway. It's just that my character was inspired from her.

Will Karan Wahi be returning to your show?

Karan may surely return to the show. His exit hasn't been done in a way that he can't return. Dr.Mallika's return was very well received. It hiked TRP. Karan may return to the show in a positive or negative avatar depending on how we want to take the story forward.

What do you think of those who look down on TV?

TV is very challenging. So I don't know why people look down upon it. I challenge those who sneer at TV to come and do this every day with zeal and devotion. Every TV actor has to be passionate and patient.

What do you think of the replacement of Mohnish Behl?

The creatives really don't want to replace a lead. However nobody is indispensable. Gradually people get accustomed to a new face and the show must go on. There was in fact a hike in the TRP of our show after the replacement.

What went wrong between you and Karan Kundra?

Nothing went wrong. People are still speculating about what went wrong and what my relationship status is. I have started to enjoy this now. I am tired with explaining whether or not I am in a relationship. Also this should be none of others' business. It's not that we don't hang out together. We are still good friends. We still meet at birthday parties. We have the same gang of friends. It's not that if two people haven't been dating each another that they stop hanging out and start hating one another.

No matter whatever happens in life Karan Kundra and I will always be there for one another. We still call one another when we do something new. I am very proud of his show Gumrah. He isn't merely the anchor of the show. He is an integral part of it. He has become a youth icon.

However  Karan Kundra and I aren't dating now. In fact where do we even have the time? I really can't understand what you mean by dating. But yes, we don't meet that often.

This doesn't mean we aren't in touch. We aren't in a committed relationship. We aren't getting married.
