Actor Gautam Vig created a name for himself with his portrayal as Ali in Star Plus' Naamkarann. And now, the actor is being loved to be hated with his stint as the conniving and evil Miraj in Zee TV's Ishq Subhan Allah.
We sat down the actor and quizzed him about his journey so far.
How did you get into Television? Tell us about your entry into acting?
My journey is full of ups and downs. I always wanted to get into acting but my family never allowed me to go into this field. So I went to Canada for higher studies, completed my bachelors and masters in Human Resource and started working full time as an HR at Scotia Bank in Canada for around 3 years.
Then, as I was fully settled mentally, physically and financially, I decided to come to Mumbai. I started giving auditions and bagged roles first in Namkaaran and then in Ishq Subhan Allah. I have so far done more then 59 commercials with all the top brands.
The audience love to hate Miraj. How does that feel?
For me, my priority is to do justice to my character and the rest is audience's opinion. If people start hating Miraj that means I am doing my job properly, and doing full justice to it. I am sure people will hate the character and love me and my acting. That's what matters.
Tell us about your co actors Adnan Khan and Eisha Singh.
They both are really nice, humble and co-operative also. The entire team made me feel very comfortable from day 1 till today, and I love working with them. We all gel up good together. I mostly do my preps in my free time so when I get time, I interact with everyone.
What would be your next choice of role?
My choice of role comes with a lot of variety. I love to play different characters and challenge myself as an actor. God has been kind enough to fulfilling my choices. The only thing I pray for is that people will love whatever character I am playing.
You played a love-stuck character and now you are seen in full revenge mode. What's next on your wish list?
I don't really have any wish list because as an actor you expect a lot, but sometimes you don't get enough, so that's why I just go with the flow and as I said I like to challenge myself every time with my roles. So that's why I opted for this negative role after playing a positive lover. And to be honest, I am loving this part and exploring a lot as an actor and a person also.
However, I am not sure what's my next step but whatever it will be, I promise I will choose something wise and challenging. Rest, it all depends on destiny. But I will continue with my passion and hard work to achieve my goals.
We wish Gautam all the best for his future!
