Abdu Rozik’s managers confirm detention, say theft allegations are under investigation

Social media personality and former Bigg Boss 16 contestant Abdu Rozik was reportedly detained at Dubai International Airport on Saturday. According to a report by Khaleej Times, the 21-year-old singer was taken into custody shortly after arriving from Montenegro.

Rozik’s management confirmed the development to the publication, stating, “All we can say is that we are aware he has been taken into custody on allegations of theft.” No additional details about the complaint have been shared so far. Dubai authorities have not issued an official statement.

The nature of the charges remains unclear. The managing agency refrained from disclosing more information, citing the sensitivity of the matter. The incident is now under the jurisdiction of UAE law enforcement, and further updates are awaited.

Rozik, originally from Tajikistan, rose to prominence in South Asia and the Middle East not only for his musical work but also for his appearances in Indian reality television. His short stature—resulting from a growth hormone deficiency—made him one of the most recognisable faces in recent Bigg Boss history.

He became widely popular during his stint in Bigg Boss 16, where his cheerful nature and catchphrases caught public attention. He was later seen in Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull and Laughter Chefs: Entertainment Unlimited Season 2. In the latter, Rozik was initially paired with Elvish Yadav. However, he exited mid-season after travelling to Dubai during Ramadan and was replaced by actor Karan Kundrra.

This isn’t the first time Rozik’s name has surfaced in a legal context. In 2023, he was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in India in connection with a money laundering probe involving a hospitality company. Although he was not listed as an accused, the episode drew considerable media attention.
