It was a dream opportunity for Aalisha Panwar when she got to play both the protagonist (Aarohi) and antagonist (Tara) on one show 'Ishq Mein Marjawan'.
The show gave her instant recognition and fame.
However, Aalisha quit the show midway over creative indifferences. Currently, she is playing the role of mother to 4-yr-old in TV show Meri Gudiya. However, Aalisha shared initially she had her inhibitions to play a mother’s role.
The actress said, “Initially, I was very sceptical about the role. But after the narration from the producer, it was so touching and emotional. The character was also very different and wanted to experiment. There are many layers. She is also aggressive and seeks revenge. Most importantly, I wanted to play the role of a protagonist. I didn’t want to play another negative role. I wanted to break that image.”
Aalisha’s role in Ishq Mein Marjawan was later reprised by Nia Sharma. Aalisha also shared that she was very happy to don different looks in the show. She said, “I have at least done 8-10 disguises in the show. One was Kesari, the maid, for which I had to get full body makeup done. It was too much for me. Mentally it was exhausting too. Sometimes Aarohi, sometimes Tara, I didn’t even have food properly. I used to forget my meals. It was lot of pressure playing double roles. But professionally it was satisfying.”
The show had Arjun Bijlani in the lead role and Nia Sharma, Sonarika Bhadoria Vineet Raina in other prominent roles.
