Macedon Dmello took no time to win over the hearts of the audience with his dance moves and charming personality on the small screen. While he rose to fame with Channel V's Dil Dostii Dance, Macedon showcased his passion for dance through Bindass' Naach with his friends Shantanu Maheshwari and Nimit Kotian.
Let us see how the versatile dancer prepared himself for Naach!
Please tell us about your journey in this industry
My journey in this industry wasn't planned. Everything just happened to fall in place. Shantanu and I have been friends since college days and we have done shows and won competitions together. Having performed on a talent based reality shows, I was approached to be a part of a dance show along with Shantanu and that's when I made my debut on television.Â
My work was appreciated and people started liking me. However, I always had this feeling that something is incomplete and this is when Shantanu, Nimit and I decided to pursue our college dream, which we shared with BBC Worldwide and Bindass.
That is now Bindass' Naach happened to me!
How excited were you to train the students for the international competition?
Bindass Naach gave me an opportunity to select and train with the finest dancers across the country and with this I must say I feel more privileged than excited.Â
Any particular training or pointers you kept in mind?
Yes, we wanted to bring out the best and hence we had to undergo a lot of training. Stamina, flexibility, strength and style was the basic criteria we kept in mind at the very beginning, As we got closer to the competition we started training the crew on different technicalities and we kept an eye to see how well they adapt to our pattern of dancing. Â
Post Dil Dostii Dance, a fiction dance show, you went back to doing a show purely focusing on dancing. What are your career aspirations?
Honestly, this is not just a show; it's our journey, the way we are in real life, so we weren't acting at all. All that you will see on TV will be real. From career perspective, I haven't decided anything and I prefer going with the flow.
How difficult is it for a dancer to gain fame? Has the industry been kind to you? Please elaborate.
According to me, a dancer should be passionate about dancing more than just seeking fame. I guess giving all your effort into something you really want to do, will ultimately lead you to success. For me the industry has been really kind and warm, maybe because they have seen my passion and eagerness towards this field or maybe I am just blessed. Â Â
Which dance form are you best in and which one do you need to work a little harder?
I don't know if I am the best at it but I love popping and I like to top-rock. On the other hand I need to work very hard on many other dance forms, but after being a part of Bindass' Naach, I now feel like I can be an ace at every dance form. (Laughs)Â
