9X welcomes New Year with 4 new shows and a Mega Event

Starting Monday, the 7th of January, 9X will extend prime time with daily fiction drama Dahhej, which will air Mondays to Thursdays at 8.30 pm while from 14th of January, it will launch its afternoon band with two engrossing daily dramas -- Veeranwali and Neelanjana and a daily cookery show, Rasm-e-Rasoi. Apart from these, 9X will also be airing a mega multi-starrer Bollywood event, “Ten on 9X”, featuring the three Khan superstars – Shahrukh, Salman and Saif along with others.

Dahhej, slotted for 8.30pm from 7th January 2008, Monday-Thursday depicts the story of courageous Kalyaani, the apple of her father’s eye, who is ready to sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of her loved ones but her world changes when she is reduced to becoming part of her elder sister’s dowry.Coming from the BAG films, the serial has Aneesha Kapoor playing the role of Kalyani. The cast also includes Deepshikha, Bhuvnesh, Muskaan and Aneesha Kapoor.

The new afternoon band on 9X will offer its viewers an ocean of dramatic emotions and useful infotainment.


Starting 14th January 2008, at 1pm starts Neelanjanaa, meaning ‘the blue-eyed’. The story is based on the true story of a simple girl, for whom her beauty becomes a bane rather than a boon, the manner in which she is helped by a journalist to escape the evil of flesh trade prevalent in the society. The beautiful Harsha Khandeparkar plays the lead as Neelanjana. The series is produced by Edit II Productions and has a very impressive lineup of popular television actors like Atul Srivastava, Mrinal Kulkarni and Akhsay Anand.

The second drama series in the afternoon band is Veeranwali that will be aired Monday to Thursday at 1:30pm. It’s a touching drama which revolves around the beautiful relationship and strong bonding between a sister and her two brothers. Produced by Creative Eye, Veeranwali is the story of Simi (played by Garima Bhatnagar) and her two brothers Khushal (Waqar Shaikh) and Dharam (Adesh Chaudhary).

9X is all set to brighten the afternoons with not just engrossing daily dramas, but also an informative and entertaining daily cookery show titled Rasm-e-Rasoi. The Afternoon Band on 9X will commence with this scrumptious cookery show, which will air every Mondays to Thursdays at 12.30 pm. Anchored by the dynamic chef Nikhil Rastogi, Rasm-e-Rasoi will not only toss up irresistible mouth-watering dishes, it will also demonstrate a perfect recipe for direct viewer connect.

Besides these shows Channel 9X is poised to bring its viewers what is without doubt the biggest multi-starrer event in a long time. On Sunday, the 6th of January at 8 pm, the musical extravaganza TEN ON 9X will feature three big Khans of Bollywood - Shahrukh, Salman and Saif, along with a galaxy of Bollywood stars who walked the red carpet to lend their support to the cause of AIDS awareness. It will feature sizzling dance acts by Lara Dutta and Udita Goswami and spellbinding musical performances by superstar entertainers Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailash Kher, Shaan, Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy and others who had the huge live audience grooving in this song and dance extravaganza. In the audience were other Bollywood heartthrobs like Ranbir Kapoor, Dharmendra and Priya Dutt, directors Madhur Bhandarkar, Abbas, Mastan, composer Annu Malik, model Aditi Gowitrikar and others.
