83 Film: When Reel-Life Vengsarkar Was Almost Hit By Bouncer On His Head

It so happened that director Kabir Khan directed Mali to bowl wide at Addinath and not as he actually would on a cricket field.

Ak

Talk about life coming a full circle and it seems the instance of an incident was almost repeated during the shoot of 83 film.

One would remember how cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar couldn't play the World Cup 83 finals owing to an injury that happened facing a bouncer from Malcolm Marshall.

And it seems Marshall's son, Mali hasn't forgotten that as he 'almost' injured the reel-life Vengsarkar played by Addinath M Kothare on the sets of 83 film. It so happened that director Kabir Khan directed Mali to bowl wide at Addinath and not as he actually would on a cricket field.

According to Kabir in a chat with Boman Irani for FStop, that particular delivery would have hit Addinath on his head, if Addinath hadn't swayed away just in the nick of time!

Well, indeed that was a close call. Glad it went the right way.
