5 Most Awkward, Cringe-Worthy Yet Hilarious Moments from 'The Office'

Scott's Tots, really?

It is almost unimaginable to think that The Office would have been as iconic as it is today if not for the extremes that the show went on multiple moments. Of course, the absolutely hilarious moments are indulged in the smart humor that the show exhibits maximum but it wouldn't be The Office if it weren't for the awkward and cringe-worthy moments from the show.

So, here are 7 moments from the show that even though giving you the cringe were still memorable and of course, hysterical.

Michael Scott's Indian Character - Slapped by Kelly

This was one of the issues with the first season. Anyone who is watching The Office for the first time will find it difficult to like the show if only judging the 1st season. This scene was one instance where Boss Michael Scott mimics an Indian character on the Diversity Day in the office where he tries to involve Kelly Kapoor, the Indian in the office. Of course, everything about his portrayal and dialogues

was mind-blowingly stereotypical which will absolutely offend any Indian. But this doesn't matter anymore as that was the Michael Scott we fell in love with later.

1

Kevin Malone Spilling his Chilli and Sliding in it

Okay, this is not cringe-worthy per se but it is indeed awkward and supremely sad. In one of the openings of the show, Kevin is seen carrying a large can with his special homemade chili and you almost anticipate the time when it will fall. It finally does as he reaches the office. The next few seconds follow him describing the recipe and sliding in the dropped chili trying to get together. Just so awkward looking at it and very sad too.

2

Michael Kisses Oscar Martinez

In what was a supremely hilarious scene, Michael kisses his employee Oscar to a reaction from the employees (which was exactly ours, shellshocked) as they are talking about being homophobic. Fun fact - the kiss wasn't scripted and was totally improvised by Steve Carell. Of course, we are not homophobic to include this scene here but that kiss screams cringe all the way.

3

Meredith Palmer makes Jim Halpert sign her crotch plaster

Just what can get more cringy than Meredith lifting her skirt to have someone sign on it? And yes, her occasionally-getting-nude is not as cringy at all. When Meredith has a plaster on her pelvis to the crotch area, she goes to Jim and lifts her skirt right up asking Jim to sign on the plaster. As freakingly hilarious as that scene is, you can see the sheer cringe and awkwardness on Jim's face as he signs on it. Fun fact - Actor John Krasinski actually signs his own name instead of his character, Jim Halpert.

4

Scott's Tots

If there was a meter of how much awkward can things get then the Scott's Tots episode will probably break that meter entirely. Michael explains how he promised a group of kids back then to fund their education as they grow up and graduate but now that the moment has come and the now-teenagers welcome Michael as heir hero, the latter announces in a class full of children and teachers that he cannot fund their education and that it was a fake promise. The reaction from everyone is extremely awkward and you just want to hide your face somewhere to avoid it.
