Indian TV shows need to be lauded for having portrayed some of the most delicate topics with absolute ease. While giving birth to the concept is a huge task in itself, the idea of executing it is even tougher. And coming to one such instance, Erica Fernandes aka Sonakshi from 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi' has done it effortlessly.

With the second season of the show in the making, we decided to acknowledge the strong and upright character of Sonkashi and how the actress portrays the same with finesse. So, here's a list of 5 messages that Erica, through her character Sonakshi from 'Kuch Rang...' gave out to all the single mothers out there.

#1. Turning into an independent woman is essential

It is an unfortunate occurrence, where more often than not, single mothers end up devoting their lives to their children completely and not prioritizing themselves. We do not say that being a home maker is being unambitious. However, it is important to divide your life into work, daughter/son and home. And that is exactly what Sonakshi does. Where instead of being the quintessential saddened and heartbroken mother, Sonakshi became her daughter's hero and her own savior thereby breaking all the stereotypes associated to a single mother. You remembered Sonakshi as the home maker when married to Dev, but we saw THE Erica Fernandes as Sonakshi reloaded when post leap, she became a successful entrepreneur along with being a loving mother.

#2. Having a right approach towards your children is necessary

Unlike those single mothers who, at times fill poison into the heads of their children about the other parent, Sonakshi had the most logical and rational approach towards it. Instead of playing the vicious single mother, she let Suhana decide for herself about the kind of relation she wanted to establish with her father Dev (Shaheer Sheikh) after she meets him. Sonakshi did not let the animosity between herself and Dev be the reason for a troubled bond between a father and a daughter. Sonakshi even mentioned how she feels that even though Suhana is young, she has raised her to be smart enough to take her own decisions. That's parenting done right! And not only the acting, but the manner and poise that Erica showcased would even give the non-believers a reason to agree with her.

#3. You need to have your priorities set right

Portraying a separated couple with a daughter and yet living together is an idea we thought we would never see on the Indian television in the correct. 'Kuch Rang managed to do that. The recent happenings between Sonakshi and Dev have gotten them close and there was even a moment when Dev unintentionally proposes her to come back to him. While the fans woudl have loved the idea, the character of Sonakshi chose to take a wise decision by coming to terms with the fact that this isn't about just the two of them anymore now that their kid is involved. She understood the intensity of the situation and decided to give time to their growing fondness of each other. While all these facets may be Sonakshi's positives, the shift of emotions that Erica has portrayed through her acting have been a treat.

#4. Playing the dual role can be both challenging and rewarding

We have talked about giving the correct teachings and upbringing goals that Sonakshi gives one and all. However, amidst all that, one thing she doesn't forget is giving the love the little one needs. The kid is still facing her father's absence and is sold enough to question the breakup, but Sonakshi moulds her n a manner, where love never fell short for her. From being the shrewd operator to being the doting mother, Sonakshi became the mother when needed and also the father when needed. Many would agree that we cannot imagine anyone else being able to portray these contrasting feelings with the level of ease Erica manages to do so.

#5. You don't have to give into the societal pressures against your will

One of the strongest message that has been delivered by Erica's character of Sonakshi is that one does not have to conform to the whims and fancies of the society, only because she is a woman or rather a single mother to be precise. We witnessed how Sonakshi's father, Bijoy tried to fix her alliance with Jatin, but Sonakshi did give in and showed to us how life isn't just about a life partner. She did not do this as a revolt; infact she explained her father in the mos mature manner manner about how having someone to share your life with is certainly an added bonus, but that's not what it always counts.

As we wish Erica a very happy birthday, we hope she continues to wow us with many more such performances of hers. What do you have to say about it? Leave your comments below.
