10 things Mouni Roy revealed at the launch of So You Think You Can Dance!

The Indian version of dance reality show 'So You Think You Can Dance' is all set to hit the tube soon with a brilliant panel of Judges and super talented hosts. Talking about the hosts, we have the pretty actress Mouni Roy, television's sexy Naagin, who will be co-hosting the season with handsome hunk Rithvik Dhanjani.

In a conversation at the 'So You Think You Can Dance' launch, Mouni Roy revealed 10 unknown facts about the show. Have a look:

1. I always wanted to host a dance reality show.

I have never hosted any show before this. I feel hosting is a very challenging part as I had shot 8-9 days for the audition round, which required you to be present there. Your presence of mind also plays a vital role. It was a little difficult for me as there is no telly prompt script ready for you where you just need to stand and read it; instead, you need to give a spontaneous touch. This is also the reason why I always wanted to host a dance show, as I am well versed and can get a good hold on it. I am glad I got to host it as there couldn't be a better platform than 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

2. I have religiously followed all the seasons of 'So You Think You Can Dance'-America.

So you think you can dance! I have religiously followed all the seven seasons of the American version of this show. In fact, I used to download and watch it for a very long time. So the moment I got a call stating that the show is coming to India, I got very excited as it is such a big brand in itself.

3. Madhuri Dixit is my all time favourite and I couldn't be happier, working with her in the same show.

Madhuri Dixit Nene, the dancing diva is actually the main reason for me to be a part of this show. She is my all time favourite actress and I believe that she is one of the top dancers in the world. What better than working with Madhuri Ma'am on the same show!

4. People will also see me dancing along with hosting.

Dancing is in my blood. So being a part of a dancing show, I am sure the viewers will definitely get to see me grooving on the stage. I don't know when, but I am sure at some point or the other, the makers will try to incorporate one or two performances of mine in the show.

5. We are not looking for a street or stage dancer, but for a great dancer.

We are following the same format of the American season 11 and 12 of 'So You Think You Can Dance' which heads towards Street v/s Stage dancers. As this is not a franchise but the same show that came in India; the logistics and rounds starting from auditions have come directly from there. And keeping in mind the format of the show, Rithvik and I have been placed to support individual styles. Because I love Kathak and other stage forms, I have been placed to support the stage style, same way Rithvik has been placed as somebody who is supporting the street style. However, at the end of the day, we are not judging the performer's dance style, what really matters is that he/she should be a great dancer.

6. My favourite dance forms are Contemporary, Kathak, Jazz and Ballet.

I am placed under stage styles, as they knew that I like those forms; be it Contemporary, Kathak, Jazz or Ballet.

7. Sanjeeda and Shakti are very good dancers on television.

Sanjeeda Shaikh is a very good dancer and also Shakti Mohan. She is one fabulous performer I know on television.

8. I know Rithvik from a very long time now.

I am grateful that Rithvik Dhanjani is my co-host. He is a seasoned host and well versed with hosting that would really help me. He is very much supportive and also the fact that I know him from a very long time would add to our comfort zones. Rithivik is a very nice guy and genuinely a good person so that's all that matters. We share a certain friendship and compatibility that we will show on the stage.

9. I will be real, be myself and more spontaneous as a host.

Just because I had apprehensions that Rithvik is a seasoned host and that he knows so much already, didn't really bother me. I also think every single person brings a certain flavour or certain part of themselves in the show. Even a fiction character that I play, has a certain bit of Mouni in it which will be just me. So what I really need to do in this show is be real, be myself and try to be more spontaneous, be present so I know what I am saying and what I have to say.  

10. People will see an altogether new side of mine on this show.

I think nobody has ever seen me like how they will see me on this show. I feel people have always known me as a very sweet and serious types, but you can't be that on this show. You have to kind of break your own image or go out there and give it your all, to understand what is working for you as a host. After all I am the host of the show, so if I don't have everything and if I am not holding it all together, it will all fall apart.. so yes get ready to see my new side on 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
