Indian Summer might have been shot in India but meanwhile a Russian crew came down to India to shoot for a TV series titled The Indian.And not only did the shooting bring down popular Russian actors,it also had an Indian cast that included television actors Panchi Bora and Honey Lalwani.
Talking about this project,Lika Sidorova,international marketing manager,Russian World Studios,says,The script of The Indian was connected to the country.The film is about a talented surgeon who comes down to India in search of investments for his set-up in Russia.But on his way to India,his plane crashes.Only two people survive the crash,with the surgeon being one of them.The surgeon,who loses his memory,stays back in India and is healed by the Indian doctors.It was logical to set the film in India because the script went down well in the context of medicines and investments.Besides,India is a beautiful country and we wanted Russians to see more of India through this film. The Indians cast includes one of Russias most popular actors Marat Basharov.Marat has already done over 30 films and was cast in The Wedding that also went to the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.Marat apart,the film also has Egor Beroev.India Take One Productions,who were coordinating for Indian Summer,looked after the Indian production of this series.
Panchi Bora of Kayamath fame,who plays the role of Maya,says,I went for the auditions and the project fell on my lap.I went to Moscow in October for the first schedule of the film.It was an amazing experience to shoot in the snow.In November,the unit came down to India and we shot in Mumbai and Wai.I play the love interest of the surgeon.There is a religious connect to my character too.Shooting with the Russian cast was exciting since not many of them understand English and I had to rely on the interpreter.
If all goes well,other Russian productions too are expected to be shot in India this year.

According to the arrangement, Sistema Mass-media JSC (manages media assets of JSFC Sistema) shall assist Zee CIS LLC in its attempt to distribute its channels on the networks affiliated with Sistema Mass-media, while Zee Entertainment shall facilitate localization and distribution of a number of Sistema Mass-media channels in India and several other countries (in Europe, Asia and America).

At a meeting with prominent Bollywood personalities, he said Russians have been longstanding fans of Indian movies. He also stressed the need to cement Indo-Russian ties by working closely in the field of cinema. During the 30-minute interaction at Yash Raj studios, the Russian President said Hindi films were in great demand in Russia. " Russians love the bright, original, ethnic- oriented movies made in India. The love for Indian cinema is long- standing in Russia," he remarked. He said an Indo-Russian venture named Indian, starring Panchi Bora is doing well in cinema halls in his country. Medvedev was initially supposed to visit Raj Kapoor's studio at Chembur, but the plans were changed due to "logistical and security reasons". Sources close to the Kapoor family were reportedly miffed at the change, as the late actor continues to be popular in Russia even today. Medvedev spent time watching Kareena and Shah Rukh rehearse their steps for a dance sequence in the upcoming film, Ra. One . Later, Shah Rukh said: "We wanted to shoot the song in his presence, but due to security problems, we just showed him the steps. We chatted over coffee.
