Vijaylaxmi Singh: The biggest highlight of my journey is the work I am doing right now, Imlie

Vijaylaxmi Singh aka Radha from Imlie, has been in the limelight for her portrayal of the eldest of mothers-in-law in the show. The actress recently spoke to India Forums about the receptivity to her character, how difficult has the journey so far been, the work she has been doing, and more. Some of her recent work includes Delhi Crime, Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji, and Rasbhari, among others.

Your character in Imlie has been on a journey, but do you feel that it is getting slightly negative, and do you feel sad about it?

I do not think that it is getting negative , Radha is a character of a lady who is a little authoritative and extremely protective and caring towards her family . She feels that aadi and imlie have wronged everyone by keeping their marriage a secret, by introducing Imlie in the family as someone who needed  love and support while she could work for them . She did carry out all her chores with great sincerity and love . But there is a difference between supporting someone as domestic help and getting a bridegroom for one's son . Huge difference , Radha is definitely taken aback by the relevation , she is just reacting to the jolt she received. Aditya's marriage to malini was a huge event for the family and was done with the involvement of society/people ... only Aditya and imlie knew the truth still they participated in the marriage with brought much humiliation too.  According to Radha righteousness and family values are important, she is just trying to instill them. 

I do not feel sad about the way Radha has to react, she has been backstabbed in a way..that too by the ones she loved...she is reacting to it anyone would need time to deal with it.

You started off with theatre, what are the difficulties you had to face in your journey from the stage to acting in front of the camera?

There are no difficulties, only learning experiences. Investing time, attention persistence, and perseverance is what I did. Things only got difficult during Corona when traveling was difficult and some projects got delayed. 

What's the biggest highlight of your journey so far?

It's the work I am doing right now - Imlie.

How is your bond with Mayuri Deshmukh, Sumbul, Gashmeer on the sets?

With Mayuri, Gashmeer, and Sumbul I share a friendly rapport, we usually talk about our common interest that is fitness and food. With Gashmeer, he is a thorough gentleman and he has a good sense of humor while Sumbul is very young, so we just talk about anything.
